I like and have both! A smallish snowman themed tree with white lights and our larger family tree with multicolored lights.

I prefer colored. I do an old fashioned tree where many of the ornaments have been gifts through the year.

LOL...why just either/or?

Our tree has both white and colored lights! There are 3 strands...one strand of colored lights, one strand of 'twinkling' white lights and one set of a very slow 'flashing' (different kind of a twinkling) lights...

DH likes colored lights on a tree, I like red and white together, so we compromised. The tree looks GREAT with both colored & white together {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

This year our indoor tree is Warm with white, yellow, and orange lights. Our outdoor tree is Peppermint with red and white. The outdoor display stays up until St. Valentine's Day.

There is a tree in a front window of a house in a nearby town that is done in red and clear lights and it is beautiful.

clear/white lights on the christmas tree.....i think they really showcase the ornaments the best.

i did put some colored lights in some large plants/trees inside the house though.

I think the white lights are elegant so that's what I have on my main tree in the entryway. I have a kitchen tree, which is decorated with food only related ornaments, so it's more fun and whimsical. That one rocks the very bright colored lights. Outside I also use the multi-colored bright lights because I like how festive they look, and they really show up.
