Cleaning White Kitchen Cabinets

I have white painted kitchen cabinets and have noticed some grease residue on the cabinets above and beside the rangetop. I did a little wiping with hot water and detergent, and the grease didn't budge; the oily streaks are still there. What can I use to clean white kitchen cabinets that is strong enough to remove grease residue but won't harm the paint?
