Well, I have flat surface itis. Anywhere there is a flat surface I will put stuff. Does anyone know a cure for this? This makes lots of piles, since I need to "see" stuff to remember it.

My Better Half has this but I never knew there was a name for it. {#emotions_dlg.laugh} Tables, dividers, even the back of the love seat, are usually lined with little piles of papers, cups, anything else that comes his way. It drives me crazy!

The best thing I ever did for myself was to purchase a Roomba. The best automated vacuum ever!

My house is relatively clean and neat most of the time, except for some dust and a little clutter like magazines and mail. But for the past several days my back has acted up and it is all I can do to get the dishes to the sink much less even feed myself to have dishes. I am surrounded by my meds, mail that has piled up. Thankfully I have a dr. appt. tomorrow and get some help with this. It only happens once or twice a year but when it does happen it really throws me a curve ball. I do my back excercises religiously but I still have problems. Now I sound like a whiney child. My dogs have really helped by cleaning up the food that gets off my plate when I am trying to get them to the kitchen sink after I have eaten.

I had a cleaning lady when I was working, so after I retired I needed to establish a routine. This is what works for me: I do all my cleaning on Mondays. That way I am done for the rest of the week. I clean 3 bathrooms, vacuum and dust the whole house, and steam mop the tile floors. I like having all that done on the same day so the whole house feels clean at the same time.

I am very neat, but my husband has surface-itis like others have described. I mostly clean around his stuff because it is not really so bad. He straightens up his clutter about once a week. I don't deal with with disarray, so I have to have things orderly.

I do laundry twice a week and iron as needed. I clean the kitchen appliances and counters as I cook.

Moxie,

No, you're not whining. I had a shoulder injury two years ago, requiring four months of physical therapy, and recently, tendonitis right before the holidays in my right hand. Everything stops, or at least really slows down, when you're injured. You shouldn't have to apologize for anything when you're in pain. I got a little depressed with the shoulder because I was in the middle of painting my bathroom and everything was in disarray, plus my spring gardening couldn't get done (I have a lot of flowers/shrubs).

I finally decided that I couldn't fight it, so I just read a lot more than I usually do, and would force myself just to do a tiny bit each day and not get depressed about it looking like a mess.

Eventually everything got done (both times). It makes me really feel sorry for those with chronic pain and health issues.

Adelm and CCBeauty: Thank you for your suggestions of Motivated Moms and Clean My Space. I am used to using a Franklin Planner and I think the MM checklists really compliment that system. And I have subscribed to Clean My Space - I think she is great! She has useful tips, relaxed presentations that are entertaining and also motivating (I want to live at her house, so clean and clutter free) - her videos are very well done! She has free checklists which I will have to compare to MM's. Can you tell that I am one of those listmakers too?Smile

Thanks again for the recommendations!{#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

FlyLady is also a nice "cleaning" site.

Flight Plan for today 5/5:

Today is Monday: Weekly Home Blessing Hour

This week we are in Zone 2: The Kitchen

This month's Habit is: Moving

 • Morning Routine: Get Dressed to Shoes including Hair/Face, Brush Teeth
 • Make Bed
 • Swish & Swipe
 • Empty Dishwasher
 • Reboot Laundry (a Load a Day Keeps CHAOS Away)
 • Check Your Calendar
 • Check Your Control Journal

 • What's For Dinner?
 • Drink Your Water
 • Declutter for 15 Minutes
 • 15 Minutes of Loving Movement (exercise)
 • Before Bed Routine:

Lay out Your Clothes for tomorrow
 • Check Your Calendar
 • Put things needed for tomorrow at the Launch Pad
 • Where are your Keys?
 • Spend Two Minutes Clearing off a Hot Spot
 • Shine Your Sink
 • Wash face/Brush Teeth
 • Go to Bed at a Decent Hour

We are back in the kitchen!! The mission for today is not fun! So sorry! LOL! Clean your kitchen trash cans!! Take out the trash and wash those nasty gross cans out! You know what happens when that trash bag slips down and yet the rest of the family still tosses things in there! Use a soapy rag and wipe down the sides and the bottom. Some of you may need to take the can outside and spray it out with the hose. If you have a lid, don't forget to clean the underside.

Have fun!

Seriously? there is a website where someone tells you to wash your face and brush your teeth everyday?????????????????? She seemed to forget to tell you to take a bath every day as well. I am speechless that someone would actually read this - and think they need this to know to do these things.

I have always hated housework. I hate it as a new bride 30 years ago and I hate it even more now. My "routine" for getting it done quickly and efficiently is simple. When our cleaning lady arrives, I let her in. We chat for a few minutes, I point her to the list of tasks that's on the kitchen counter beside the envelope with her pay.....and then I grab my coat and bag and get out of her way.....

Because I babysit my grandbaby everyday, I decided to hire a cleaning lady every other week. I just could not keep my home up as I am pooped by the end of the day. Believe me, I now wonder what took me so long! She is thorough and honest...and my house is sparkling clean after she is gone and I just love it!
