Re: If you live alone do you

I put up a couple small artificial ones. I have one up in my loft where I spend most of my day and the other on my jelly jar cabinet in my living room. The smaller of the 2 belonged to my late mother. I don't take the lights or ornaments off, I just cover with a garbage bag and put away until the next year, though, it needs some adjusting after uncovering.

I donated many decorations we had after the divorce and our tree. Then I got another tree that had built in tinsel, it was very pretty. I donated that a couple of years ago then last year had no tree.  I had a grapevine tree with clear lights that I donated too. I do have alot of very nice decorations though and some that my Mom and Dad had gotten me thru the years that I do miss using with no tree!

Do what you feel. I have a small condo, with not a lot of space for a big tree. I last put up a real one, about 5 years ago and I enjoyed it. I wasn't entertaining, but it's perfectly fine to enjoy it yourself, if you want!

I also have a 3 foot artificial, skinny tree that I've always had special, collected and meaningful ornaments for that I'd put up, along with other decorations, when I wanted to not put up a big tree. I find myself using that one most. Another option is to buy a little potted one, put some of your mom & dad's keepsakes on that. When we sold my mom's house, my childhood home, in 2017...and I brought home some old timey ornaments she still had from my childhood trees, I happened to see a very pretty "ornament tree" advertised, believe it or not on Lisa Robertson's website that year. It was the first thing I bought from her there...it worked beautifully for those keepsake ornaments. I'm sure Amazon, Wayfair and other sites like that have options too.

But occasionally, like this year...I just don't feel like it, so I'm probably skipping the whole thing. And I'm ok with it.

For me it just depends on if I'm in a decorating/Christmas mood.  I have all the fixins, sometimes I go full out, some times a small trea and sometimes nothing.  Do what feels right for you when the time comes closer.

Exactly what I do too!

I have many Christmas decorations I spread around my home, but I don't put up a tree.

Re: If you live alone do you

I no longer do anything for Christmas, it's just another day.  No decorations, no tree, I don't give or get gifts, usually no special meal.  I have no relatives here, friends have moved away or died.

And people wonder why some of us hate CIJ.

Re: If you live alone do you

I live alone and most years I don't put up a tree.  But that's mainly because my condo is small and putting up a tree would involve too much rearranging.  I have other Christmas decorations that I display and enjoy just as much as I would a tree.

Re: If you live alone do you

I don't put up a tree but I put a natural wreath on the door and we put some lights down the sidewalk and along the driveway. It is just my husband and me but we have a son who lives in the area.

I love the cozy atmosphere of Christmas so I still enjoy it but without so much work. We don't do gifts but usually have a little special food.

Re: If you live alone do you

For me it depends on the year and if I will be home on the day.

If I don't put out my tree then I just put out all of my holiday and winter decor.  Otherwise, I do both.

I have a short window for tolerance for a tree, so if I can't get to it around the 15th, then I don't bother.

If I put it up too early, I'm over it by Christmas and have actually put it away on Christmas eve once.

I have a small amount of decorations now that I put around my home. I could have an 8 foot tree if I wanted one lol. I have around 9 foot celing in the LR. Woman Very Happy  I put a wreath on the door and a snowman garden banner too.  I might order a small fairy light tree this year but Im not sure yet.

Re: Christmas Tree when you live alone

It is just my husband and I in our home.

We put up a tree and I get the German nutcrackers out of storage.

I like the feeling that the decor brings out.

My husband likes the feeling that the season brings out as well.

For us it is nice to look at the tree (and it is a real one) with the lights on at night.
