I watch a lot of HGTV. Last night it was Flip or Flop, a couple renovating houses in the $400,000 plus range. I'm not sure where the show is filmed, a warm weather area for sure. I'm surprised they are using so much carpet, it seems like every other show is universally down on carpeting. My neighbor's daughter is urging her to pull her carpeting before they ever list their house. Neighbor says carpet is warm and inviting and won't do it. What do you think?

I have carpeting in the bedrooms. I have a sculpted low pile carpet. We don't wear shoes in the house, especially in the bedrooms, so it stays clean.

The main floor is all wood tile.

I think it depends on where you live. The home improvement/real estate shows all tout hardwoods throughout the house, but a lot of people still like broadloom. The best thing to do when selling is to check out other houses for sale in your area in your price range. As a seller, you want to have comparable amenities to those of your competition or accept that you may not get as high of a price for your home.

I can tolerate hardwood in the living room and dining room, but I want my bedrooms carpeted, so much warmer. My house is 36 years old, has 100% hardwood floors, but they are 100% carpeted as of now.

Carpet is warm and inviting.

But if there are pet stains or any stains or any wear, the home will not show well and will turn buyers off.

Everyone is different. Some will want carpet, some won't. I would just have my house the way *I* want it - not want some TV show or any other person out their says. It's all personal preference.

I don't know what's "in" or "out" but I immediately removed the carpet from both of the homes I've purchased. I like area rugs, and hate wall to wall carpeting.

I haven't had one stitch of carpet in any of my homes during my adult life (I'm 54). Always hardwood throughout.

My husband and I are looking to buy a house. We have seen many houses with carpeting and most of them have terrible looking carpet. This is why I prefer hardwood. I can always add an area rug if I choose.
