OMG. As a graduate of OSU, I cannot believe that never crossed my mind! What was I thinking??!!
That is a great idea!

After years of working in hospitals I would never consider grey on my walls. Much too institutional for my taste. Some people always go with whatever is trendy, but I prefer to be more classic. Especially in home decor because I want to keep my furniture and decor a long time.I'm not one for buying new very often.
That said , I really like how they are pairing greys up with yellow these days in fabrics and clothing. I love them together.

@ChynnaBlue WOW!!! If these rooms are your's you have one gorgeous home! What spectacular colors you've blended. You have great taste and a really great eye for colors. I'd for sure do similar colors as well if this were my home.
All simply so tasteful and colorful, Ms Blue!

Grey is not for me - it just seems a little too depressing. I like the suggestion that you group grey with red or some other brighter color.

It's funny - I saw a Property Brothers where they painted a bedroom a light shade of grey and I loved it and intend to do that when I buy my next home (putting this house up for sale in two months). On the show, the light grey looked like it would pair well with a lot of different colors.

Our builder offered , if you wanted to use them, a decor package. You chose a main color and they choose the floor tile, bathroom wall tile, carpet, contertops and cabinet color to all go together. They had beige and ivory and blue as I recall. I chose the beige. Anyway, we went to look at model homes with friends who are looking to build and now they have white , grey and rose blush packages. We were sorta shocked at the starkness of the white as it was white walls, floors and kitchen cabinets with sorta tan counters. The grey had grey walls, floors and ceilings with dark expresso brown cabinets and yellow counters and a lot of yellow & green throughout in the decorating. It was very pretty. The grey was various shades - the walls pale and the woodwork dark. The yellows were very saturated yellows and grass greens. It was very pretty. The only thing I did not like was the grey subway tile in the bathrooms - it looked like a subway !

I wish they were mine! No, I live in a small apartment with all beige walls and beige carpet.

Interesting that I saw this thread tonight...I just ordered a new couch this weekend...Our current couch is a pale grey and the color scheme of our living area is goldish tans/creams/neutrals with touches of soft greens, soft mauves, and pale yellows throughout open floor plan...While my husband and I were redecorating our living area about five years ago, he spotted the couch on sale and so he just bought it...I've tried to make friends with it, but it just hasn't worked out!...LOL
It is in excellent condition and will be donated to The Salvation Army...Our new couch is gorgeous and in a style and color that will finally balance out our living area perfectly!
It is not to say that I don't like grey...I think it is a great color if it works with your basic color scheme.
OP...As far as the candles, I think that they will fit in perfectly with any decor, as long as you have other colors to coordinate them with, such as your red candles.
Enjoy!

I believe a gray-brown-black combination gives an elegant, sophisticated aura.
