CALM, SOFT COLORS CHRISTMAS TOUR

Remember Rebecca Robeson, the San Diego designer who goes for big effects in her design business?  This is her daughter Sharrah's small house decorated for Christmas-- quite a difference from her Mom's "go for the gusto" virtuosity!

I like both glam and "organic",  so for me it's not a stark choice.  But I do really like this decorated home for a young couple.  The little house looks like it has Craftsman aspects, which I think her somewhat modern decorating style complements.  It's sort of Scandinavian-influenced, with rustic elements.  Her "theme" is "trees", as you'll see.

The "Kinwoven" colors she mentions are part of a new palette they have --  mostly I think sort of copper or rust, ambers, mossy greens and creams.  I find it pretty and soothing (even though I like regular Christmas colors too, and other off-beat combos).

Do you use non-traditional colors at Christmas, or red and green all the way?

I have always liked and enjoyed Rebecca.  I am happy to see her and daughter working together.

Re: CALM, SOFT COLORS CHRISTMAS TOUR

While I tend to use traditional Christmas colors, I am attracted to accents that reflect Early American and German design.  I finally learned that “less is more,” and we are busy culling so many years of collecting.  There is a Scandinavian shop near the CT shore that has interesting items and introduced us to cardoman bread, which is quite a treat.  It’s nice to have some snowmen on display, as they cheer us up during our New England winter,

Sweet, understated, and warm.  Love the earthy neutrals, though here in chilly northern VA I'd have added some blush or coral for even more warmth.  So pleasing in every way (wish I could swipe that rustic snowglobe right off her table!).  This strikes me as very much a young person's home -- someone whose taste appealingly combines whimsy and self-restraint.  Thanks, @Oznell !

Me too, @Abrowneyegirl,  it's nice that in her re-constituted company, she has her daughter and son-in-law aboard.

I bet that bread is delicious, @PamfromCT..   "Culling" is a good idea-- you can warmly evoke Christmas in the home without having too much.  This year I might have slightly over-decorated, but after culling and purging last year, at least I'm using most of what I have!

Wow, that was my take too, @vsm

I love your idea of blush combined with that more earthy palette-- it would spark all the rest, in an interesting way.

Cute... So cute... The cutest... Just NO!

Too perky for me... My gosh is she annoying... Some nice holiday decor here and there but her decorating aesthetic is not mine... For one thing, I absolutely dislike bottle brush trees... Each to her own, but what this says to me is that if there had been bloggers and influencers years ago when I was her age, I should have been one... I might be rolling in it by now...

As always @Oznell thanks for posting, but this one isn't for me...

Re: CALM, SOFT COLORS CHRISTMAS TOUR

I hear you, @stevieb!.    She does hace a 'spacey' quality that for some reason I always enjoy.  It's very different from her clearly driven, very organized and ambitious mother, who I also get a kick out of.

I like these rooms, esp. as an example of a more modest approach than a lot of design types do at Christmas.

Hey, I think you could be a blogger/influencer right now-- you have such a good eye!

Re: CALM, SOFT COLORS CHRISTMAS TOUR

My home is very Pottery Barn/Arts and Crafts except for my bedroom which is robins egg blue/white/black accents. I can do more pastels in the bedroom but the rest of the house Christmas decor needs to be more traditional colors and metallics.

I like her decor, especially the tree and the tree groupings around the home. Overall, her house is too bland for my taste, all white/off white/ beige which is not me but I could live with it for awhile for a change. Hers is well done, imo.
