If you have the money to do this, you're certainly having housekeeping or nannies change the bedding! Lots of summer homes have this, or even main homes in a certain income bracket. When kids grow out of it, grandkids take over, so never a need to have it torn out or replaced. Usually homes or estates this big have 50 million other rooms ( I exaggerate but you get my point) for every other need, so no need to tear out to make into a closet or office, etc. because those spaces already exist on a grand scale!

Smaller homes or mcmansions might duplicate this as well if there are lots of kids and/or grandkids and you have a little bit of money to upgrade from standard bunkbeds.

DD built a new modern farmhouse two years ago and out something similar but each bed is bigger. I do not like the angled ceiling. She had them put USB ports and lighting on each and her kids used them all the time for sleepovers. DIL had six of them built into the wall of a lakehouse she built and it has come in so handy.
