Bridge table and chairs.... do you own one?

I used to own a bridge table with four chairs.  It came in handy when I lived near family and we had big gatherings. It was "the kids' table".  I don't know what happened to it, but I'm currently looking to purchase another and I'm kind of shocked by the prices.

Do you own one?

Does it have a 'history'?

For what do you use it?

Re: Bridge table and chairs.... do you own one?

@house_catI certainly do -  and would you believe, I use it most often for home bridge games.  One group has been together in some form since 1987 and another since sometime in the mid-90's.  There have been others along the way, but those 2 have the greatest history.

At this point, I have no idea what I paid for my set, but all these years later, the chairs are still the most comfortable bridge chairs any of us in the groups own, so whatever I paid was worth it.  Besides, after all this time, that set owes me nothing.

Hi house_cat!

Yes, I too owned one.

I inherited the set from a friend.  She was moving and did not have any room for it.

I would pull it out, around the holidays for extra seating.

The "Table" bit the dust, a few years back and was thrown out.

However, the chairs are still holding up great.  I continue to pull them out every Christmas for extra seating.

We had some before we moved to Fl. because DH's mom was in a bridge club. However, he must have donated them as we don't have them anymore.I still have one chair which I made a slipcover for and it is the chair I use at my vanity.

Yes, I have a very good set I bought a long time ago.  It is used for bridge games  and for extra seating at other times.

[ Edited ]

Is that the same as a padded card table w/ 4 chairs. If it's theme, I bought one at SAMs Club many years ago. We use it for canasta, international rummy & bunko weekly games.

i know our WalMart sells them. I think they are by Cosco. Chairs sold separately.,

i bought a piece of vinyl (by the yard at Joanne's) for our Bunko game so the dice bounce "quietly"!🙄

Re: Bridge table and chairs.... do you own one?

We had a 50s vintage wood set.  The table is long gone, but three of the chairs are in the basement for seating during tornado warnings.

I also have three vinyl and metal tables.  One is for crafts and the sewing machine, and the other two are for playing bridge, one upstairs (in the air-conditioning if it's hot) and one downstairs.  We just use the dining room chairs or office chairs.

Have you seen the premium wood sets that are really pricey?  I've been tempted but I don't know where I'd store the chairs.

@athenian

I have not seen the wooden sets - they sound wonderful.

Thanks to the poster who suggested looking on Overstock.com.

I hadn't thought of that.

Yes!  Inherited ours from FIL.

It's in the garage usually, holding supplies for the Harley.

Holiday dinners, it's at the end of my expandable table, turning an 102" table  into a 120" table.
