Do all Big Lots carry the same merchandise or is it hit-or-miss?  I was in a store last week for the first time in years.  It's a strange place - not very big yet its inventory runs from groceries to upholstered furniture.

I have two in my area. I have seen mostly the same merchandise at both, but I think one of them has more furniture and mattresses.

They buy out "lots" of merchandise from various stores, thus the name Big Lots. I guess they could vary from store to store.

I have seen discontinued cosmetics to day old bread. I suppose each store is slightly different.

My neighbor and I were so unimpressed with the prices at Big Lots the last time, we'd rather shop at Target and pay the same or cheaper prices.  Their prices have soared the last couple of years.  No longer a bargain in my eyes.

I agree about the prices. I think everything I looked at the last time I was there was $12 and up. This is over my mental price threshold.

However, they tend to get the colored lights in that I cannot find elsewhere, and that is when I cave!

Some of the stuff is really cheaply made but they put a high price on it.

Thanks for the reminder to stop in and see what my store has stocked for Summer decorating.

When I looked at their Spring and Easter items a while back, I also felt that some items were overpriced for the quality, and that the quality of the different items varied from nice looking to cheap looking.

A few things did tempt me then, but I decided I'd take my chances that they'd still be there when reduced, and I'd reconsider then.  I forgot to go back. LOL.

I went there last year before Easter looking for some inexpensive items to use for party decorations.  I didn't find anything.

I wasn't impressed either.  I was only looking at prices in the grocery area, and they seemed like normal supermarket prices.  I expected them to be more like dollar store prices.
