Bethlehem wired lights for tree

These are those cute lights that are actually wires with lights on them-mine are gold. Each strand has a battery box and you can set it. I set mine to go on at six thirty and off at nine thirty.Worked great. So we put up the tree the 26th of November and tonight I realized something. The lights are getting dimmer and dimmer and dimmer every time I look at them. What good is this?? I'd rather plug them in every night and have bright lights. Right now my Christmas tree is almost dark. What a waste of money. Who knew I would have to replace the batteries (three double A-s each) every other week. Probably sooner-I just hadn't noticed. I should have read the fine print I guess.
