Best Way ....? Help Needed

My living room , dining room , entry , and hallway is wallpapered in a washable plain/solid silk-look that has a suble vertical stripe design. A wonderful friend has voluntered to help me wash/scrub it. What is/are the most effective products and methods to use ? Since this is not something that will be tackled often I want to do the best job possible. Many thanks in advance.
