We recently returned to Erie (paid sewer damage claim years ago). We then went with State Farm for less expensive rates until they raised our homeowners premium significantly after we had two storm related claims (both times siding and shutters were replaced). I am hoping Erie will give us the superb service we had years ago.
When we switched back to Erie we saved approximately $800 (HO and auto policies)

You have to replace your entire roof? The whole thing is bad? What kind of material are they using that you have to replace the entire thing after 9 years?

Our agent recently transferred us from Travelers to Cincinnatti Ins. for both car and home.

A golf ball size hail storm will take out a roof less than 9 years old. A frequent occurrence in North Texas.

I guess I'm just picturing the entire roof with holes everywhere and practically gone. So you can't replace just a section of the roof? Do they have special roof insurance for people that live in areas prone to this, like they do for people that live in flood areas?

That's what I'm thinking. Maybe the materials they used were inferior? Is there any kind of warranty on the shingles? I just can't imagine everyone that lives in areas where hail is a problem having to constantly replace their roofs, and insurance paying for them. It just seems odd to me.

Us too. Cedar Shake roofs. I think an awful lot depends on the agent you have. Ours has really smoothed out some problems for us. And we have a LOT of bad weather where I live.
