I went to a baby shower at someone's home over the weekend and everyone was asked ("asked" is putting it politely) to remove their shoes upon entering the house. There was a basket of used slippers if we wanted something for our feet.
The host doesn't have allergies or anything that would explain the need to keep out whatever is outside being brought in. So, I'm guessing she's just a clean-fanatic.
To me this is the height of poor manners and bad hosting. Most of us were not prepared for this (I would have worn socks or had a pedicure, for example) and I was not alone in feeling uncomfortable all evening.
Thoughts? Was I just being a sour guest?
