Re: Bedroom with a Colonial Vibe...

I don’t like canopy beds. This one is way too “frou frou” for me. I like the desk over on the far wall.

Spiders.  Take off the top and that is our bed!  I love posters!  And I love high beds!

Not for me.

I really like this room, esp. the lace on the canopy.

It all looks vintage and I like that

Re: Bedroom with a Colonial Vibe...

This is not my style and I wouldn't choose it for my home but I would like to stay in that room in a B&B. There is something that I really like about it and that surprises me.

It's okay for a colonial look but nothing special.  Looks comfortable.

Re: Bedroom with a Colonial Vibe...

I think this is very nice.

I used to be into very early American decor and antiques.

Never did do the open work canopy thing -  but I knew people that did.

Looked nice, very period looking with the right bed linens.

I also liked the higher bed frames that worked perfectly with this look that required a wood step stool placed by the bed to get up onto it.

For me, I would of used buttoned pillow shams with a simple woven pattern to add some more texture, pattern and color.

* The only thing I do see here that I don’t care for is the lamp. It just does not go here, too plain and too contemporary for this type of look.

Re: Bedroom with a Colonial Vibe...

I like this bedroom since most of my furniture is vintage, from 40's - 60's, inherited from parents & grandparents.  I admire the very sleek contemporary style in the homes of today's younger generations, but I prefer cozy rooms.  Watching a 70-inch TV while sitting on a l-o-n-g sectional sofa in a room with vaulted ceiling and track lighting would totally freak me out.  I know I'm a sentimental sap, but it comforts me to live in the same style home as the ones I grew up in.  ( Not so sentimental that I have avocado green appliances -- I do indeed have stainless steel, a big leap for me!)
