What are those things called that hotels put on the foot end of beds? They look like double wide table runners or flattened window valances. I haven't seen an actual bedspread in two decades and rarely a fluffy comforter. I suppose it's more sanitary and easier for the housekeeping staff to throw on a neutral colored quilt and lay that piece of fabric at the foot end for a pop of color. I'm staying at the third hotel in the last month and that seems to be the trend.

Years ago I was told by housekeeping it is where you place your shoes if you lay in the bed w/your shoes on.  I forgot what she said what that piece is called.

I think it is a bed scarf or bed runner.

I don't know if there's a name, but it is to protect the bedding from your suitcase, that's what I've been told.

Many times if we travel by car I at least take a big throw with me. I want a blanket, not just a sheet.
