@shoptilyadropagain.  Apparently the staircase was restored and the color was chosen to be true to the original.  It's pretty potent, I  agree.

Wow! How beautiful!

I remember going into homes when we lived in Georgia and seeing staircases like this. As a young girl I would run to the top and look down to the bottom. I wasn't afraid of heights - yet!

Now when I go up three stories in an old house I grip the railing, and try to avoid going up in the first place!  Smiley Wink

The gold dome in Atlanta has a beautiful staircase.

Not my children.  They would be running up and down them like it was a treat for them to be there.

Can you imagine the craftsmen?  They were built between 1616 and 1635.  Nobody now has those gifts or would even work or have the patience to work on something so magnficient.

Absolutely beautiful!

With my arthritic knees I could do maybe four stairs!  😂

But they are beautiful!

It's past our time for such but I did enjoy it when I was younger.  My youngest son tells me now that his knees are bothering him.  He didn't understand that 5 years ago when I needed knee surgery (LOL) but now 5 years later he is beginning to fell the pinch.  He has a split-level, 4-story house.

@Nonametoday  oh my!   I can't imagine a four story house.  We downsized about five years ago and I am so happy not to have stairs.

My oldest son is 29 and not long ago he said he never understood when I complained about my back.  He hugged me and said he was sorry💕

@2sisters

That's a sweet son.  They actually have a 3-level split level and then they made the basement area into another level for games, music and theater for the kids.
