I agree with the husband.  Water spots everywhere on something like that.

I have that color in my kitchen sink (farm style) and although I love the color it is a real pain as it shows everything!! I have tried all sorts of different cleaners and it is just really hard to clean and keep clean. I don't know if the shower would be the same but I would be a little worried about that.

I grew up with golden rod sink, tub/shower, and toilet in one bath, and blue in the master. I'd go with white or light grey if they have it. Neutral colors will span the test of time unless you have the assets to change it when you are tired of it.

My brother has a black tub and he said he would never get another one.  Just too difficult to keep clean.  Pretty to look at though.

I had a black bathroom sink and toilet in a half bath some years ago.....beautiful when polished and clean - but don't let anyone use the bathroom! Seriously, it was a pain in the neck, unless you have a daily maid. Listen to your hubby!

I have a friend who has a navy blue soaking tub....she will not use it or allow anyone else to use it.  It shows water spots and soap rings.  Too difficult to keep clean.

White fixtures are always best.  Down the road, if you need to replace the toilet for example, it will be impossible to find the perfect match if you get a color.  White can always be purchased and will always match the existing fixtures.

Color  splurge with tile, flooring and textiles to your hearts content.

Re: I love it! Grey is THE color now, but eventually it will...

Each to their own but I don't see the appeal...

Years ago when my parents were building a home, selecting bathroom fixtures was a big deal... Also at the time, various pastel colors were all the rage... My mother thought I was crazy when I told her I wanted white fixtures in my bathroom... While I lived there, I never regretted it and now she wishes she'd have followed suit... Unless one is installing truly custom, high end fixtures like marble or hand crafted tile, I still prefer white... And yes, that dark grey color will be a chore to keep looking fresh and clean... And no, it will not stand the test of time...
