Back to Back Seating Areas

[ Edited ]

What do you think?

Obviously, they have a large space to fill, but I don’t like the back to back sofas. I keep thinking people might knock heads. 😳 I’m also thinking it would be difficult to  have 2 different groups of people having 2 different conversations.

As much as I sometimes want larger rooms in my house, this reminds me of how it can be difficult to furnish large rooms. I want rooms that are nice looking but also functional for real life.

Other than the tables I’m not really loving the furniture or accessories. I don’t like the prints on the chairs, pillows, & throws. The huge acorns under the window are strange.

Re: Back to Back Seating Areas

I agree with you, it can be difficult to decorate a large room.  We had a large living room in our previous home with a cathedral ceiling.  I thought I had it set up nicely and furniture was placed spaciously.  When the realtor came she said how lovely it was but it was still too" congested ", I believe was the word she used?!    I was surprised, if she ever saw this she would faint!   It is overdone but I like the room itself and love the french doors.

The ONLY thing I like & want in that junky room are the 2 fuzzy acorns on the floor in the upper right corner.

I agree, @wilma , that it would be difficult to have a conversation if there were groups chatting in each area. I wouldn't want guests to feel like they need to whisper or use the "church voice/whisper" in my living room.

I'm always the odd man out on these threads, but I like it!

Re: Back to Back Seating Areas

I've never liked back to back sofas. I also don't like living spaces that are all chairs with no sofas. There are creative ways to arrange furniture to fill rooms without resorting to pat, predictable solutions.

@wilma. It's nicely done.  However, it reminds me of a common area at a lovely commercial property.
