Re: Back to Back Seating Areas

@wilma This is a big no for me.  Perhaps one area could be used for children or a time out scenario. I would not want to be backed up to others personally.

It's different, nothing something I would do.

@wilma

I like the colors (blue/neutral) used but that's it.   Oh, also, while I'm not a fan of coffee tables, I do like the wooden one in front of the sofa.  None of the arrangements make any sense to me.  Distracting to have back-to-back conversations going on.

Also, very busy looking.

Re: Back to Back Seating Areas

Large rooms are usually done in several conversation areas.

The back to back couches aren't ideal to me either.

Re: Back to Back Seating Areas

Looks like the common area of a hotel, B&B or even a sheltered accomodation home.  Much too cluttered and I agree that those sitting back-to-back could be bumping heads.

Re: Back to Back Seating Areas

I have back to back sofas in my living room but there is a walkway between them.  I divide my livingroom into a fireplace seating area and a larger group gathering area.

I think furniture arrangement is a good way to divide areas.  However, I don't really care for the decorating style in the one pictured.

First saw that concept on I Love Lucy when they moved to their country house at the end of the series. I like it in big rooms and when a fireplace is involved.

I don't like the back to back sofas either, and I also feel there is too much furniture in the room, but it is kind of hard not seeing the whole room too.........

Re: Back to Back Seating Areas

I realize it's a large room but I think it can be done with only one seating area and still have it somewhat intimate.  I don't think it's helping anything either because just about all the furnishings are dreadful to begin with.

Re: Back to Back Seating Areas

I think this room would look much nicer with a large sectional and much less furniture..just way too much going on for me.
