I have had mine out since the end of August.  I don't decorate for Halloween, just not a fan of it.

We have some decor that even though it is basically fall we keep up all year. Very little storage in our townhome. I do have a pumpkin that has an initial on it and when Sept 1 comes I put it on the skirt of the fireplace. Come the day after Thanksgiving I have a large ornament also with an initial and that goes where the pumpkin was seated.

I did it! I put out my autumn decorations yesterday. It felt good to do a thorough cleaning and putting away my summer things anxiously awaiting the first day of Autumn. I don't do a lot of decorating, just strategically placing pumpkins/flowers/berries all through my rooms and packing away my bunnies and birds' nests. Okay, I'm readyWoman Wink

I am envious!  I haven't done anything yet.  I keep saying I'm gonna do it and then I talk myself out of it!  I have decided that I am not going to do as much for fall and Halloween as I usually do.  I told DH that I am thinking about cutting back for Christmas also, but don't know if I will stick to that.  It's all so much work!

@AngelPuppy1 , I get you! I only have a few harvest type decorations, never go all out for that, but I do store my things that definitely look spring/summer. I'm seriously considering not putting up a Christmas tree this year and just putting out enough things to look like it's the season. I've got so many things, why are Christmas decorations so difficult for me to thin out? It usually takes me a couple days to pack away things after Christmas and am wondering if I'll feel free this year or regret it.  One year I wasn't going to be home and chose not to put up a tree and it never felt like Christmas that year. I live alone and oftentimes only have a few visitors throughout the season.

You don't incorporate Halloween into fall?  You're removing fall decor a week into the season?

The worst thing for myself is getting the boxes of decorations out to put up and then putting the boxes away!  They have to get stacked in the garage and I can't do it myself because of my back issues.  DH always has helped me but it's hard, difficult for him because of his health issues.  We both love the decorations once they are out but is it worth it to risk our health???  Christmas is when I always put a lot out.  I take care of all the decorations but putting the tree up.  DH puts it up and then I decorate it also.  If you could manage it, I would put a tree up because it doesn't feel like Christmas without one.  Even if you have to purchase a smaller one if you can't manage the one your have!

As for fall and Halloween, I put up quite a bit usually, but I don't think I'm putting up much this year,  I will get a few pumpkins and gourds and maybe do a few other small things and that's about it!

We should do what we can and not worry about it.  I say that, but I do worry about it or get anxious about it.  That shouldn't be what it's all about, right?

@amyb   I'm sorry about your SN pumpkins battery issues!  Yikes.  I put mine out mid September, and even thought my batteries dim a bit near the end, they definitely last the whole season.  I typically have them out 10-11 weeks.  I take them down Thanksgiving weekend.  I use the timer mode too.

You're so lucky @lynnie61 ...I don't have this problem of eating up batteries on any of my many other battery operated items~ Luminara candles, Valerie lanterns, Bethlehem Lights wreaths...only these pumpkins!

I use top quality batteries Duracell or Energizer. But on timer these pumpkins started to dim in 2 weeks. So, I just put them out today~we'll see how it goes this year!

I just refreshed, for the new season, all my candles, lanterns and these pumpkins...spent $40 for batteries on Amazon to do so. So, we'll see. So strange to me that other people did NOT have this issue with the SN pumpkins, but some did (I read many reviews that said they had the same issue as I did.)

What brand batteries and from where do you use?

@amyb   Last year I used Rayovac from Lowes or Home Depot, don't remember which.  I just put energizers in this year, I will see if they last.  I think this is my third or forth year for the SN pumpkins and I usually do not always use the same exact battery brand.
