Re: At Home in the Blue Ridge...

I don't like formal anything. I also don't like all the plates on the walls?

Re: At Home in the Blue Ridge...

I love the entrance buffet and tapestry, I do not care for the sconces, if I had to keep them I would change the style of them and eliminate the standing lamps.

I would change the dining room furniture to something much less formal, I just don't do formal, and that setting deserves rustic or at least casual. Another that really feels confused about the plates on the wall in the bedroom.

There's not one thing I don't like.  I could even live with plates on the walls.  The slipcovered dining chairs are so pretty, but I'd only serve bread (no butter!) and dry cereal at that table....lol.

Beautiful furnishings, drapes, decor, all very appealing to me as I love the formal look!  The tapestry in the entry hall is an eye catcher and lovely. I do not care for the fixtures, however, and would have different lamps. I would add more color with art work and rugs.

Very soothing home.

It's beautifully done but most all of it is too formal for me, except for the bedroom which I feel is very dreamy and restful.

I can imagine being very happy sleeping in that room. I love the clean, uncluttered space and the light blue tones are so refreshing. I love ivories and light blues in a bedroom and I really love the pop of the big blue and white floral pillows. Just gorgeous!

I also love all the curtains and how they are hung high, that's a trick I like to use to make a room look more opulent.....

Thanks for the lovely!

Re: At Home in the Blue Ridge...

I started noticing all the curtains are hung very high on the wall, nearly at the ceiling.  It certainly gives a clean line and more drama, but that would cost a lot for all those long long curtains.

I find the bed to be very formal and actually not very inviting.   Too many decorative pillows and I don't find the metal frame adds much.

Re: At Home in the Blue Ridge...

Way too formal for me also, all the way through. And too cluttered.

As always though,  I appreciate @stevieb and others posting pictures. I like looking at them even though they never seem to represent what I'd pick for my home.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Re: At Home in the Blue Ridge...

The interior design of the home was beautifully done. However, it would be too formal and two frou frou for me and my lifestyle. I'm also in the "I don't understand plates on a bedroom wall" camp.

Very attractive, but not for me.  Too formal and fussy.
