There are a couple of sets of pre-lit---possibly battery operated (having a senior moment) garlands that are "as is". In the world of Christmas lights, do you suppose this means the lights don't work? I think they are by Bethlehem Lights. Any experience with these, as is garlands?

I wouldn't hesitate buying as is. I mostly buy home decor from the as is section. Once and a while something doesn't work, but you still have the option of returning it as defective.

Here is the official explanation of 'As is' items:
As is items may be a customer return, vendor sample, or an on- air display and is not in its originally manufactured condition.It may not be new and it may have been repackaged by QVC. The manufacturer may not honor any original warranty. However, QVC's standard return policy applies (30 days).

Thanks for posting this, and it is out there in many other places, but in reality, I wish Q would explain to their CS reps and operators that according to this description, we should expect to get an item that is complete (not just 5 pieces of a 7 piece set) it should be unbroken ( not glass or ceramic items that arrive shattered, cracked or crazed), and if it has a function (like lighted, or a toy that moves or has voice etc.) it should work.
I have called to return 'as is' items that were broken or the sets incomplete or not working, and been told that is why it is 'as is', and I should not expect to get my shipping charges refunded if I choose to return.
That is not keeping in line with the policy that you posted here. As is, according to the posted policy is just not new or returned or out of it's regular packaging, but is not defective, broken, or incomplete.

As is items can be missing items or contain non working pieces ie lights etc. When you return an as is item for those reasons it is defective and the customer should mark it that way. According to our return policy defective items receive a full refund. But it is important to mark the return as defective.

Thanks Beth, I know this, but I have delt with CS and order operators who don't know this, and don't want to give proper credit for shipping charges. Just suggesting that there is a lack in training in a few cases in this area, and that those that handle training may want to make sure they focus on that/remind reps of that policy.
