I love arches in a home.  I'm partial to curvilinear architecture.

Hmmm, the space is great...

But...

I would have a mid tone wood floor here. 

Also, get rid of all the potted plants, the table lamp, and most all of the shelf decor.

Needs a splash of color I think here and there to break it up a bit and add interest.

The arches and the view are fantastic.

Lovely view and beautiful architecture, but too much gray that spells uninviting and dreary.  I think of sitting there on gray rainy and cloudy days in the midst of gray.  

I'd use other colors in this room, and place a coffee table in front of the sofa, a side table and lamp beside each chair for drinks and reading.  Actually, I'd remove one of the side chairs.  

I think the arch and window make enough of a statement.  Crowding the area with furniture diminishes their impact. 

If I lived there, instead of a sitting area, I'd place a long low console table or bench in front of the window.   Curtains over the lower portion that can be closed at night.  Arrange the furniture differently away from the window.
