As I'm doing my spring decorating, I find myself lusting after a chocolate rabbit. Not the kind you eat but a decorative figurine rabbit. Have any of you painted a chocolate rabbit? Where would you find an unpainted figurine? Was it a ceramic material or something else?
I'm watching an already painted one on ebay and it's probably cheaper to buy one than to paint one myself.
Thanks

I haven't painted one myself, but this tutorial makes it look pretty easy: http://www.mysouthwesternlife.com/2012/04/tutorial-faux-chocolate-easter-decor.html
I think the hardest part might be finding the right "bunny".

I love that rabbit and eggs in the link. I wouldn't dare do that at my house. I'd probably forget it wasn't chocolate and break a tooth or something. LOL
Edit: It would make me crave chocolate bunnies all the time.

That is so adorable! She found that bunny at Goodwill. I'm guessing the chances of my finding a bunny at GW are slim to none!
And, yes, I might be tempted to take a bite. And, yes, it probably would make me crave the real thing.

Many, MANY years ago, when our children were little (back in the 60's), I got all kinds of Easter bunny figurines and the like from places like John's Bargain Store (remember John's), church bazaars, tag sales and the like. I wanted them to look 'nice' and like sets.
DH had leftover brown satin finish paint from the house trim. I painted ALL the bunnies chocolate brown, and added ribbons around the necks. (Some still have little teeth marks from kids who thought they were edible). If it looked like a chicken, it got painted yellow or white. I still have all of those Easter decorations, and set them out every year, along with all the newer things. They all received new coats of nice Krylon spray paint, and still look good. Have also learned how to use a glue gun to fasten the ribbons.
I'm craft challenged. When God was handing out the craft genes, my mother was probably hanging out with the lifeguard at the gene pool.

Find a ceramic shop in your area. You know, those figurines that are white and chalky looking. They are usually loaded with bunny shapes this time of year. No need to have it glazed or baked after painting (though you can and it would be much more expensive). They always sell paints too and there is actually a paint called 'chocolate'. Use regular craft paint for the eyes since you won't need much. Most dealers are very willing to sell you what you need without signing up for classes though there are franchises for drop in ceramic painting.

Thanks for all your suggestions. Not sure yet how I'll come up with a chocolate bunny. But I'll get one somehow.
