Mine is still so beautiful, but I think it is time to call it quits. It's going on 4 months. I shall miss a plant on my kitchen table.

What to replace it with, though. Any suggestions? I like a plant that does something.

My small white (3) ones are as fresh as a daisy......................bought Valerie's for $25 when on sale.  THEY will last forever and forever! and feel real with a little fuzzy brush on leaves.

No poinsettias allowed in my home, they're toxic to pets.

The container of pointsettia plants that I have, has about 15 individual plants. And only a few of the red color leaves have fallen. Many of the green but there are still quite a few green left. So each plant has the red flower and a few green.

It isn't as full as it was at Christmastime. But I still can't bring myself to throwing it out yet. Because the red leaves are still pretty flowers.

I never managed but BBF had one that was several years old.  Didn't look so hot, but....

Keep the poinsettia and put it, still potted, outside when the weather permits.  The red bracts probably won't return (unless it gets specified hours of light and dark) but it's a good patio or deck plant, growing a lot in summer's heat.  You may have to put it in a larger pot.  At the end of the season, you can discard it, or try to over-winter.

I still have my little pink one, I'm tired of it too and I think I'm going to compost it soon.

No, no poinsettia (as @KingstonsMom mentioned, toxic to pets) but I can raise you two (uncarved) pumpkins that have not deteriorated one bit as yet.  

Just last week I finally tossed the mini pumpkins I had in the house even though they were still sturdy beyond all expectations.

The two big pumpkins are still outside.  I understand they last 2-3 months at outdoor temps of around 50F, so they're coming to the end soon.

I have two pots, one with 4 plants that is 7 years old, the other with 1 plant that is 4 years old.

The 7 y/o began as 10 plants in one pot and was huge.  It was sent to a funeral that was held in December.  It has special meaning to me, so I don't want to part with it.

The 4 y/o sometimes begins putting out red bracts mid-November, usually, mid-December.  The 7 y/o usually mid-January, but hasn't this year.  Not sure why.  

Several years ago I tried the keep in the dark trick for so many weeks and hours daily to get them to bloom earlier, but that didn't work.  It drove me nuts, too.

I cut them back every year around the beginning of April.  Then when the night temps are warm enough, I put them in the patio for the summer.  

Usually, new plants I purchased mid-November lasted until mid-April as long as I didn't let them dry out.

This is the main reason I quit buying pointsettia's cause they just last to long and I can't stand throwing them out!!!
