Anybody do those high definition laminate countertops?

I need to put in new updated countertops in my kitchen.  My problem is that I have golden oak cabinets.  I don't have any intentions of painting them at this time.  They are custom made, top quality.  IMO painted oak says hey, I'm still oak, just painted.

I've struggled for the last month trying to find something that goes with oak.  I think I've made up my mind and then something changes my decision.  I don't have a lot of money to buy granite or quartz.  What is your opinion of some of the "granite" colors with oak.  I have a solid color now and I'm trying to get used to the movement in granite along with the movement in oak.  Right now I'm favoring the Bianco Romano.  Yesterday it was Autumn Carnival.  Day before that it was River Gemstone.  etc, etc.

I have the high def laminate coumters but mine are a pattern called jeweled ivory that goes well with my medium tone brown maple cabinets, and beige walls.

In my previous home we had oak cabinets and my wilsonart laminate went well with them. It wad a pattern called dust, and was an ivory background with specks of some colors  - mostly black, but also some copper , green, brown.

Have you priced corian? I have corian in my camper and I really like it.It really looks like stone.

I used to work for a company that purchased over 2 million square feet of laminate.

You can google, Wilsonart, and Formica, these are the 2 most popular laminate manufacturers.  Color samples are online but any of the home improvement stores should have samples but I know not all the offerings are shown in these stores because the selection is crazy big.

Wilsonart also has quartz and solid surface material, those 2 are great choices and they won't break the bank.

When I redid my mom's house, I actually had people come in and spray over the existing laminate countertops and they appeared to be granite like when they were done.  I understand the "paint" lasts about 10 years and that was the most economical way I could go versus replacing them.  For example, new countertop were about $3,000 just  for laminate and these people came in for a little under $1,000 for spraying.  I was very happy when they were done but you might have to do some "digging" in your area to find someone that does that.   I know you can do it yourself but I would not recommend that at all.   Hope that helps.

I just looked at the Wilsonart website, you can actually order samples directly from them...did not know that...  I like #1881 it's new and looks like marble if  you like that.

Re: Anybody do those high definition laminate countertops?

I've ordered several samples from Wilsonart and they are free.  Formica charges for their samples.  I have about 20 samples sitting on the table and I keep comparing them to no avail.  I didn't realize Wilsonart had solid surface.  I'll go back and look at them this weekend.  That might be an option because it's more plain w/o the pattern.

I went to two different Lowe's with my measurements and actual plan from the contractor and asked them to give me a bid on some silestone and quartz.  Neither store called me back or responded.  They were like....... oh yeah, let me work up a bid on that and we'll call you or email you back with the numbers by tomorrow.  Nope.  I guess they don't need any more money.

There are two cabinet and countertop places that I been visiting.  Gets to be mindblggling.

Re: Anybody do those high definition laminate countertops?

Just replaced our ivory laminate countertops with Wilson laminate "Ink Vesta", which has black, grey, brown and ivory colors.  Looks like a granite, but MUCH more affordable.   Although I have "painted" oak cabinets (had to cause they were really beat up from previous owner), I think that color would look great with medium oak cabinets.

They also have other colors in the "vesta" line, including one with more brown accents.

I also had Wilson countertops in our previous home..I think it was called Jamaica something.  Mostly brown colors, which looked really nice with our medium oak cabinets.

JMHO...

Sorry, I meant to say Wilsonart, instead of Wilson...

I know it's difficult to find the right one, just like looking at wallpaper patterns....so many...good luck in your search..

Bella Capri 1822 Laminate Countertops

This is Wilsonart HD laminate countertop.  This is what I chose for our kitchen remodel in 2013.  It's called Bella Capri and has tones of gold, taupe, amber, black and just a smidge of cool blue.  I had a hard time choosing cabinets.  It was between natural maple or maple painted white.  I went with the white and Bella Capri countertops.  After four years, the laminate looks just like it did the day they installed it.  Easy to take care of and is durable.  Very happy the product.  Our cabinets were custom made and the dealer had displays showing granite and quartz with every type of wood you can imagine.  Stained, painted, distressed or natural.  We just didn't want to put all that money into granite or quartz.  It was hard to make a choice.  There are so many choices.  Good luck!

Good to hear that you like that vesta.  I have a sample and it is on my list of possibilities.
