The islands. They set up the islands as the only eating area in the kitchen. Then they put either the cooktop or the sink on the other side. So you have to sit and look at the pile of dirty dishes you have created making the meal, or the stove you have just used. I don't know about you, but my cooktop doesn't look immaculate when I'm done cooking. And I never wash the dishes before dinner, I want my food hot. I have an island and I never sit at it, we sit at a nearby table for meals. I figured we might use it as a bar when people come over, but its just not happening. We always end up on the deck in the summer and the table in the winter.
