Re: Annabellethecat, Ring Doorbell Alert 🔴🔴🔴🔴

I just went over and looked and checked out several comparison's and according to all I saw the Ring Pro rates higher than the regular Ring or Ring2 (which I had on my garage door).

So, I think I'll order 2 of the Ring Pro's from Amazon Prime and we shall see!  Fingers crossed!

Incidentally, I just received an email from the Ring company saying they'd like to correspond with me because I'm so unhappy with both of the products.

Now ask my why I'm trying it AGAIN!  Well, because I really need something by my garage door.  I have packages delivered there and otherwise they'd sit for a few days before I'd know they were there.

They both worked for a short time and then stopped and no matter what my friend and I did, we couldn't get them attached to the internet.  I even had Verizon come out and check out my router.

Anyway, @butterfly123 thanks for thinking of me.  I appreciate the heads up!

@Annabellethecat66

Glad you comparison shopped. I would have Ring Doorbell refund your money for the flukey one that doesn’t work.

Re: Annabellethecat, Ring Doorbell Alert 🔴🔴🔴🔴

@butterfly123 I've gone quite a bit of research on all of the ring products.

People have had quite a bit of problems with the Ring2.  Supposedly the Ring Pro is the best but it's way more expensive....well...more expensive.

I still haven't bought the Pro.  It must be wired into a regular doorbell (no battery on it).

I mainly want one for the garage door and it doesn't have an electric doorbell for the Pro to be wired into.

I'm going to give this more thought before I buy anything.  I do have several (in my house and outside) of Blinks.  The problem with that is it doesn't tell you when someone is outside (not like the ring does).

Oh! Well!  I'm doing more checking!

@Annabellethecat66  I track all of my packages.  I also have Informed Delivery set up with USPS.  I enter the tracking information and then check for it to notify me at various points of the process and after it's been delivered.

I also have something set up with UPS that they let me know when my packages ship and when they've been delivered.  They always let me know just a minute or two after it's been delivered.

I understand why you'd rather have something like Ring Doorbell, but maybe you could set these other things up, too.

Re: Annabellethecat, Ring Doorbell Alert 🔴🔴🔴🔴

@NickNack Thanks for the response and info.  I'm going to buy 'more' of the Blink outdoor cameras.  I already have 4 placed inside of my house and garage (inside and out).

I REALLY like them and they work perfectly!  I can't talk to anyone but that doesn't matter.  Not many people come to my front door (where I need to talk) so I'll put an outdoor one there, an outdoor one outside by the garage, another one around the back and probably give the last one to a friend that helps me.  I already gave her one with a module so she'll be set!

Between the two of us we are video'd up the wazoo!  Ha!  It just takes a touch of my finger to turn them off and on (which I often do).

Someone was wonderful enough to remind me QVC2 has 4 of them at a good price, so that's where I'll get them.

Then I bought a package of 4 mounts at Amazon Prime (only $39).  It makes it easier to control the range when you set them in it.

I'm too lazy to keep track of the packages like you do.  A friend gave me a huge kinda like Tupperware (with attached lid) box.

When the post office guy comes he puts the packages in the box.  It works out great!  I do order a lot of stuff I sure don't need.

But I have to order from Chew my cat Bill's prescription food, etc.  (I love, love Amazon Prime too).

Again, thanks for the info.  Take care and have a wonderful week.  Annabelle/Linda

Re: Annabellethecat, Ring Doorbell Alert 🔴🔴🔴🔴

@butterfly123  Thanks for the info on the Pro.  I have a wired doorbell and did some research.

I posted ahead of this one what I'm going to do (Blink)because I already have a bunch of them.  The main place I need one is at the garage door.  There is no wired doorbell there.

The Ring Pro doesn't have a battery so it must be wired.  That wouldn't work at the garage door.

Everyone (and I mean everyone) ignores my doorbell as it is!  I've never understood why, just weird.

My friend (and I) have never had trouble hooking up to the internet with the Blink but after awhile the Ring would not hook up to the internet.

There are also some (ummmm....) security problems with the Ring I read about.  It drove me crazy wanting me to sign up for Neighborhood Ring.  I kept saying, "No" and then it would come back again.  Just too much of a pain in the neck constantly.

It wants you to show your ring video's to other people who have ring in neighborhoods near and far???  That would be no for me.

Thanks though.  It was nice of you to let me know and I did seriously consider it...

@Annabellethecat66  I have thought about getting Ring doorbell, but after reading your experience with it I don't think I will.  I would like to be able to talk to people who ring my doorbell.  I definitely wouldn't want to show my videos online though.

Re: Annabellethecat, Ring Doorbell Alert 🔴🔴🔴🔴

@NickNack You don't have to sign up.  It's something like "neighborhood" and it looked into and drove me crazy!

My friend sets up all of my 'stuff' and she tried to 'ignore' and it locked her out too.

I had the verizon guy come to try to figure out first why the Ring2 at the garage door kept going off every 2 hours (all night) and there was nothing there.  He said it must be defective.

Then the regular Ring one on the front door worked for about (guessing 6 or so weeks) and I had trouble with that neighborhood thing.  When I kept saying "no" I didn't want to sign up...the thing wouldn't work.

I thought it was me so I had my friend come over to try to attach to internet and SHE couldn't get it to work either.

I went on line and I wasn't the only person who had trouble connecting their's to the internet.

I will say (after looking at a lot of websites) people had less trouble with the regular Ring than they did with the Ring2.  A lot of people didn't like the Ring2.

Then when someone mentioned the Ring Pro I looked into that.  That has good reviews.  It's way more 'upscale' as far as control and not a lot of problems but it doesn't have a battery so you MUST hook it to your existing doorbell.

No one ever uses my doorbell for some reason so I doubt they'd use the thing.  I just didn't want to have a problem.

I found out later you can buy (for want of a better word) a 'booster' for the thing.  Good grief!  How much is one supposed to invest to get this thing?

That's why I just decided on the Blink XT thing.  I really like the one's I have.  I like the way it's a touch and it will go off and on.  When I'm in the house upstairs I turn it off (each camera is individual) so it's easy, just a touch.  The range is good and the picture is good.

It also stores it so YOU can see it, no one else.  There's no fees.

Anyway, I wouldn't tell anyone not to buy it.  QVC has been great about me returning them.  They are good to their word.

I received an email from Ring but haven't looked at it yet.  It seems like they are apologizing for the trouble I've had.

Anyway, if you want to be able to talk you should get the Ring.

Oh!  I also have Nest (my son-in-law) set that up maybe a year ago.  You can talk on that.  It's in my foyer and I mainly just use it to freak out my cats!  It's really funny because they look around to see where my voice is coming from....(Kinda like 'mom has eyes in the back of her head').  Ha!

I have one of those downstairs in the rec room too.  I told you I'm wired up the wazoo.  It's a pretty big house and I'm here by myself.  I guess it's overkill but that me....always overdoing stuff....
