Advice on floor tile

We just recently got ceramic floor tile in our kitchen and dining room. It's all black. Twice I have cleaned it with the shark steamer and the floor is really streaky. Looks like there's dust on the tiles that won't come off. So I went over it again and the streaks are in a different pattern but still there. I'm also getting water spots on a few tiles that will come out if I get on my hands and knees with a microfiber cloth but they won't come out with the steam. I haven't cleaned it any other way yet. I have used a mop or any cleaner on it as I was told this was the best way. Anyway, anyone know what I'm doing wrong. I've been working on this floor all afternoon. It's be nice to just run a mop through it and be done :_)
