I am contemplating getting an adjustable bed. Our dog gets under the bed a lot. I'm thinking this would be dangerous for her. I googled, but couldn't find much on it at all.
Anyone have a pet and and adjustable bed? Is it dangerous?
I even searched for under the bed blocks/guards and couldn't really find anything.
Line bricks up aound under the bed?
Any info.?

IMO, It wouldn't be worth my worry about my dog's (or cat's) safety. It could be dangerous for youngsters, too, especially when another child is on the bed, pushing buttons, and the other one is somewhere underneath. I don't know how the mechanisms work, though. I'd take a better look in person, just to make sure.

Romary, thanks for your reply. I have been thinking about getting one for some time now and it just dawned on me today that it could be dangerous.
We don't have to worry about kids really. I'm thinking to make sure it was safe I would need DH to build a wood fence type solid fence around the base right inside the frame so it wouldn't show really bad. We could paint it black so that it just looked like it was the underneath part of the bed.
If the head of the bed was raised, she would never jump over the board fence. She is old and has bad hips. She never tries to jump.
I just thought maybe they sold guards of some kind that I couldn't find. That's an invention that maybe needs to be made.

Mima, I have seen the guards that box in the bed frame. I think I saw it in hotels. A handyman could build something like that for you. Is your DH handy? LM

Lilysmom, thanks for your reply.
Yes, he is handy. I'm thinking that is what we would need to do. I guess I need to get it and see how it is underneath.
Believe it or not I have a furniture store. I have access to these beds but I don't stock them so I have never even seen one set up.
I think that is what we would have to do is box it in like the motel beds.
Poor Gracie though, under the bed is her safe "cave". LOL We have beds in the other bedrooms though.

Mima, Speaking from personal experience,we've had no trouble with our adjustable bed and two of our kitties who play whereever the mood strikes them! They spent lots of time underneath it when we first got it, but seemed to lose interest in that space over time. These are adult cats, and have never had an issue. There are no dogs in our home, so that I can't speak to that. HTH pinky

Store out of season clothing and linens in Spacebags under the bed. That's what I do and the dogs can't get under it. I have a feeling the underside of the adjustable beds is very safe. Call the CS of one of the companies that make them and ask.

Pinky and Kachina, thank you so much. I think I will call but your posts made me feel better. I really want this bed, but don't want Gracie hurt either.
Thank you, thank you!

I learned something today! Yes, building a guard or storing lots of bins underneath the bed sounds like good ideas to me! Great tips!

You would also have to consider any future furbabies.
