Since I am fully on board with color, that is well done, and fully on board with neutrals, that are well done,  I guess I'm "ambi-visual".   I like this room.

Love the freshening blue-and-white, little custom touches like the green trim on curtains, the casual mix of natural and darker woods and touches of rattan, greenery and florals, even the charming little ottoman.

A 'friendly', happy, light-filled space, conducive to conversation.  I'd add a table lamp, though, and a more interesting rug.

Yes, I agree with you, Oznell.  I love the blue and white.

On second thought, I might have only added the blue & white pieces (which I love so much) and I would have omitted any green unless it was, perhaps, a small trio of succulents (even faux ones because they look so real I cannot tell them apart).

Re: Adding Color To a Neutral Room

It's a start, but needs a little more. I would add color to the rug for sure and also maybe different color shades for the chandelier for a nice little pop!

I would make the side chairs navy and get rid of the rattan chair.  Looks very uncomfortable.  Otherwise, I like the room.

I like the colors they have chosen, but I think they have played it very safe.  The room is pleasant and tasteful, but it needs and edge.

Re: Adding Color To a Neutral Room

It's still too neutral for my tastes.  I'd coordinate some of the color into a couple of the furniture pieces, rug, window treatments, etc.

I like this room and the colors chosen ...just would take down that chandelier (it looks totally out of place to me), replace the coffee table and end table with weathered/distressed pieces, and remove the wicker chair.

@faeriemoon Just because some of us love and appreciate neutral, doesn't mean we are playing it safe.  As a matter of fact, I now think it is being most out there and radical since it seems almost everyone wants a "pop of color."

To me adding color would be the more popular (pun intended), hence safer, choice.

And after all, maybe--as this room shows--it is as difficult, or maybe more difficult, to get a neutral room to really really work well.

@Sooner You're preaching to the choir.  I am the queen of neutral as I have stated many times on this board.  I prefer this room without the pops of color, in fact.  That being said, I should have been clearer in my post.  I was referring to the decorating style.  I seems a bit "furniture showroom" to me.  It needs some edgier pieces of furniture and/or artwork to make it a more interesting space.

Much, much too light & bright ... I can't even look at the picture w/o being "blinded by the light."
