You know you're in for it when you see that curvey little flip of the eves on the roof.
My first thought of the kitchen was Why did they have to Cage the lights?
Bedroom light inspiration ,a paperwasp nest perhaps? and an odd little "time tunnel" view through the window.
The table nook is just awful. Jangles the nerves. Is that animal legged, hard tiled, tuck in a bench or another table?
At least they didn't have to cage the livingroom lights.
It's a great set up for someone who Doesn't want company to get too comfortable.

Just awful, in my opinion and this home could have been lovely! Pat, formulaic, predictable, bland and in some instances, just plain ugly! Yes I've seen worse and perhaps if I didn't think the house so appealing my reaction wouldn't be so strong. That dining area just really sealed the deal for me. Ugh!
I agree with your assessment. The house exterior is beautiful but the interior is a disaster. When I looked at the picture (above) all I could think of was strung popcorn. LOL. Does anyone have any idea what the item behind the stove is supposed to be? I have never seen a backsplash anywhere close to that!

Looks like the landscaping in the front yard was done right before the photo was taken. It looks brand new, tidy and neat but it will be high maintenance.
The exterior seems to have too many angles on it...and the big pillars on the porch seem too big for the height of the porch. The exterior seems like the owners customized different parts of it without regard to an overall style. The light fixtures are awful, the butterflies just creep me out for some reason...maybe because of the movement they evoke...I want to get a flyswatter....chair legs too thin for that rug and thick table...the rug will be in shreds after a few scoots of the chairs...bedroom colors are muddy to me except for the blue sofa. Kitchen is big and bright and I would love that except for the birdcage light fixtures.
Seems like a brand new fixer upper! The console with the artwork and flowers...maybe they styled that at night during a power outtage.....

I would have done the interior in cottage style, but that's just me. Contemporary does not suit this house at all.

This is a house design where the architect cost the homeowners a lot of money. Those curved roofs on the dormers and roofline are very expensive compared to a conventional flat roof and aren't something that jumps out at someone. The little custom bump-out on the side of the kitchen island, once again does nothing but adds a lot to the cost. Things like custom molding are often used to vastly inflate building costs.
Architects love to add things that are easy to do on a computer screen but are much harder and more expensive to execute in the construction process. Things like curves instead of straight lines can add a vast amount to the cost of building a house while offering no real benefit to the homeowner.
You could take that same footprint of the house, build a house with the same square footage and the same level of livability for the homeowners and cut the cost by ten percent or more by eliminating some of the architectural flourishes. Flatten the roof lines, stick to stock moldings, use stock-sized windows, etc.
Custom molding is one of the things that always bugs me. Ninety percent of homeowners with a gun to their head couldn't identify their current molding. Most molding gets hidden behind furniture or drapery anyway. The amount of variety in stock molding is vast and something can easily be found to suit anyone's tastes. There's really no need for custom molding. But architects specify custom molding knowing that it will require the creation of custom knives to cut the molding, the use of a specialty shop to fabricate the molding, the added cost of buying the clear lumber for the molding to be cut from, all with markups along the way. It can easily quadruple (or more) the cost of the finish molding work in a custom home. And nearly no one will ever notice it.

@AnikaBrodie I think its a slab of marble with arcs cut on each side to expose the wall. I mean, why bother.

You're right, it is ugly: bland kitchen, weird dining room, mediocre bedroom. But, imho, the andscaping takes the cake! (Could this "designer" have a landscaping business sideline?
