Caught these rooms over the holidays, thought they were fun.   They're all different, but each has at least several things I really like.

Designer Miles Redd is usually more over-the-top than this room below--  he's known for love of color.  For him, this is subtle.

It's in a gorgeous old house in the Hudson River Valley.  I've always loved the combination of a mossy green, as in these walls and couch, with a peacock blue, as in the curtains--

A few years ago, I had found and posted only THIS end of the same room, here in the Home forum--

Now I found the other half, and they're together!

This living room or family room below intrigued me too.  Love the wood and glass built-ins.  It's sort of a happy combination of traditional, and also vaguely midcentury feelings...

Cool little one-of-a-kind details, that show individuality.

Liked this one for the low-key, Scandinavian-type coziness...

These next two were no brainers, because of the happy pinks used...

This one is such a wonderful example of English country cottage style--

This one snagged my attention, b/c it's such a successful mix of both warm and cool neutral/ metallics--  that would have been a sparkling spot to spend New Year's!

Finally,  this is the library done by the talented Nicole Balch in her Victorian house in historic Oak Park, just outside of Chicago.   Love that she did it in blush!   They added in all the built-in shelves to the bare room, and don't they fit well with the period and feeling of the house?

Those little sconces either side of the window, darling.

She's so good at bringing disparate elements together, like the black desk and fanciful chair.   Look at her great baseboards.

The stripes on couch are too bold and graphic for me, but that's her style.  It's a library it would be hard to leave!

Aw, that's too bad, @StylishLady2 --  it looks so comfortable, and you have those enviable French doors!

Re: A FEW NOTABLE SITTING ROOMS

@Oznell  - not sure any of these really do anything for me - esp the first two are a no.  Maybe the English country cottage one and the one with the stiped couch are ok.  Although the striped couch would have to be changed out.

Re: A FEW NOTABLE SITTING ROOMS

@Oznell , I always enjoy your posts.  For me, without much thought, # 3 appealed to me.   I love a library.  I grew up in a huge Victorian home with a library and seven fireplaces.  That was how they heated the homes in those days.  Not the kind of house I want to live in today but loved growing up in it.

For me as a general comment, I find there is way too much clutter in these rooms.  I prefer a more streamlined look.

None of these wow me.

Re: A FEW NOTABLE SITTING ROOMS

it is what you see when you first ebter our front door---the French doors lead to the lanai/pool, but we never use them as we have access from th family room, master bedroom, and the guest/pool bath. Nice practial lay out.

Re: A FEW NOTABLE SITTING ROOMS

Not only practical, @StylishLady2 ,  but that's neat that you can see your French doors when you first walk in the house.  Having an attractive 'vista' like that upon entering, is a kind of preview that there will be other visual delights to unfold in the house, and is a real asset.

I loved the pretty in pink in particular which is lovely. I find it soothing.

My favorite room has the beautiful striped and plaid chairs and tufted ottoman.

Thank you for posting these @Oznell always so much fun to peruse and savor.
