Trust "The Decoist" to show some different kitchens, that aren't necessarily the cookie cutter ones we are most exposed to.  I'm not "in love" with all of them, by any means, but enjoy seeing variety.  Not all, but a number of them are European, and it's fun to see what they're up to.

Airy.

This has a more closed-in feeling, but we're only seeing a corner.  If it had a big window just out of frame, it might be really nice.  Looks a little "Alpine ski lodge",  so a view of the Matterhorn wouldn't hurt, ha.

Normally, I wouldn't have said I'm a "red kitchen" person, but this is so cozy to me.

This has to be European....

Do not care for kitchen wall paper, but find this kitchen rather cheerful.  I really like the black open shelves contrasting with the pale wood...

Are you a fan of tiling to the ceiling?  I always love that look.

I really like a marble table, coupled with classic Thonet chairs--  very Parisian bistro-ish.

Green again.  For what it's worth, the site seemed to hint that green would continue big for kitchens in the 20/21 seasons...

None of these had pendant lights that I'd write home about.  But things I'd like for my kitchen--  beams, maybe even a wood ceiling (if I'm dreaming),  charming mix of natural wood and painted cabinets, a dramatic hood over the stove...

Re: A FEW DIFFERENT KITCHENS

It appears open shelving is really in vogue.  It would never work for me.  Its so dusty here, I'd have have to wash dishes BEFORE dinner.  I hope this trend soon passes.

Re: A FEW DIFFERENT KITCHENS

All are beautiful...each in it's own way. The 2nd is my personal favorite, though.

Just a side note:  I love the "look" of exposed beams...but personal experince in my own home has taught me I would never, ever have them again. Nor would I recommend them to anyone. They collect dust and cobwebs like crazy, and in a kitchen I imagine they would collect grease, as well!

I have them in my living room and master bedroom. They are so high (21 ft. and 15 ft.) that they can only be reached by ladder--and we are just not up to that anymore. We'll have to hire someone to clean them the next time it becomes necessary.

Re: A FEW DIFFERENT KITCHENS

I like several of them quite a lot and a few I don't care for at all. There were a couple I liked that would need different countertops, as I have no use for dark counters, particularly black, stone or not.

Re: A FEW DIFFERENT KITCHENS

I think I like the second one best.

I always do a "first impression" run.  I look at them all rather quickly, and choose a favorite.

Then I go back and study them a bit.  Stil number two for me.

Re: A FEW DIFFERENT KITCHENS

The second picture is the best in this grouping. I like the 4th one as well, but do not like the plaid chairs and overhead lighting fixture. Neither of these appear to have any window coverings. I could not live anywhere without any coverings. No one needs to know my business 24/7.

They're all nice, but I prefer the second one, although, it's a little dark.

I think it interesting they put a Thornet at the end of the table with Brewer chairs.

Re: A FEW DIFFERENT KITCHENS

Surprised myself by liking the next to last one, the dark one.  Very clean and sleek.

Re: A FEW DIFFERENT KITCHENS

My favorite is the 2nd one. I really like the dark one too. (which surprises me).

I don't like the red at all.

I like the second one with beams the best.
