Thanks for the website for the tips, whitelinen. Very pleasing to the eyes.

I bought a (at a loss of words what to call it) thingy like the one on the coffee table. The glass and wood container only mine is glass and metal. When I bought it, it has some snowmen and snow scattered in it. I placed some small red lights in it for the winter. Have been trying to come up with things for other seasons but I am challenged when it comes to that. Love the way the plain one is grouped with the pitchers and the candle holders.

Hi JPC! Do you have a little greenhouse like structure that is on the coffee table? If you do, you made a good choice! I would love to have one- it could be so versatile for all seasons. When you decide to put your snowmen away who are in it now, you could maybe keep your eyes peeled for some little faux potted narcissus, tulips, or other spring bulbs. Check Pinterest under tabletop greenhouses. I bet there are some fabulous ideas there on how to style it. You could even find some good quality faux vegetables and make such a cute vignette in it. Small ceramic bunnies would go with that theme well-sort of like Mr. McGregors garden. I know you can come up with something cool.

Hi Rosehill,

Good suggestions. I will have to check out Pinterest. Yes, my greenhouse is almost like the one on the coffee table but mine has scroll work on the top of it and the panes in the glass are different. I have thought about a small birds nest in it and fill in with other things maybe a few small birds.

Hope your weather has been good to you and you had a good valentines day.

JPC

Hey, JPC~I think that birds nests would be so nice in your greenhouse. The weather here has been lots of snow and ice with frigid temperatures. We have been feeding a long haired black cat who doesn't have a home and I have been so worried about it. I am going to make some phone calls tomorrow and try to find a rescue group to take it if we can live trap it. We had one of our pet ducks get loose and we were out in all that cold trying to catch her. We weren't able to get her-she kept flying off when we would come near with a net. After a few days, something got her during the night and killed her. So I am sad about that. I am soooo done with winter. As I said in another post-in my next life, I am not living in Ohio!

Hope you had a nice Valentines Day. I had a nice day- I tagged along with hubby this morning when he did a pick up for our son's lab-he went to a beautiful meat market and I bought some lovely beef shanks, some sausage, bacon and smoked ham hocks for soup. It's such a nice meat store, that whenever he goes there for Bryan's business, I want to go too. Then I had lunch with two friends, did a few stops at the stores, and came home and we babysat the girls while Bryan and his wife went out.

This evening we were watching the Olympics and we had a drain back up, so we had a mess to clean up-we have to call someone tomorrow to come out and see what's wrong. I guess that's life though! LOL!

Hi Rosehill,

Sounds like you had a good and not so good V day. Sounds like a wonderful trip with hubby and then lunch with girlfriends. Wonderful way to spend your special day. And even more fun babysitting the girls. So sorry to hear about your duck and your drain backing up. Seems like everything happens at once.

Our weather sounds about like yours and I am so over winter too. One day it is 20 below then the next day or two it goes up to 42 now snowing and cold again. Is it every going to end. But I really can't complain as the East and SE are having so much worse than we are.

Have a good weekend Rosehill.

I like the birds nest idea, too. HL had some smaller nests that would fit in the greenhouse very nicely.

Sounds like you had a great Valentine's Day rose! Except for the drain issue. I have been praying all winter we would make it thru without something water & drain related happening. Our neighborhood has terrible drain issues; it seems the drains are not sized correctly to take care of the run off from the properties & streets. The poor family across and down the street from had 5 basement floods last year! Each time they tried something new to fix the problem, and it flooded again. I am dreading this spring because the snowpack is so high.

It's heartbreaking to read about your feral cat, and the duck. Sometimes we just can't save them even tho we do our best. I have a feral cat my daughter caught as a kitten, and it took two years to tame him. He's a house cat now, and very affectionate with me. He lets the DGK's pet him at times but you can tell he is not like a home raised cat.

Anyway, you are right. It's life and it's always a battle on some front. I have had three upper respiratory infections in the past 4 months. I decided to cut my hours at work and I'm hoping more rest will boost my immune system. I have never been this sick in one season!!

Thanks for the hit about HL and the birdsnests. How come I never see things like that when I get there???? I do have one picked out on the net, just need to get it ordered. It has 3 blue eggs in it. Hoping that it will work in there but will have to check out HL too when I get close to the store.

Hope you are feeling better and can kick the infections for good. Hopefully cutting your work hours will help get your immune system back up. You have had it rough this winter.

Have a good weekend whitelinen.
