Location, location, location. That view is everything. I can only imagine how happy one would be waking up every day to such a sight.

Nice find! I'm not a fan of all of her furniture choices (just personal taste), but I do love that little slipper chair and the way she decorated her mantel. I quite like the yellow walls for the entry way. It's cheery. The trellis mirror is great and she was so smart with the placement, because those views are wonderful! The little hallway library is another favorite of mine in this apartment. Thanks for sharing!

I thought I'd like this one far more than I do. Some lovely elements, but overall, this one gets a pass from me. Oh, and the dots need to go, along with all that too white paint and, well, quite a few other things.

Hey, some questions from you as well as savvy comments!  I will try to answer each question, but if for some reason I miss someone's, give a shout.

@Mz iMac ,  I wish they had given the square footage. Don't know the number of bedrooms, but all they showed was the master.  It's possible the den could be considered a second bedroom, if used for that purpose, and then it would just be a two bedroom.

But remember, she said that she re-configured rooms, added a wall where there was none in the living room, so it's anybody's guess...

She kept referring to it as an "apartment", but apparently they bought it, like you would a condo or co-op.  That's lucky, since they invested so much in renovations, moving walls, etc!

It's funny what you said about only liking the animal print rug-- that might be one of the things I like LEAST, (although I don't hate it), and would probably change out the quickest...  or I'd have to reduce the patterns in some other aspect of the room....

@rockygems123 ,  that's neat what you said about the light. She mentioned that specifically, that crystal clarity-- she said the light reminded her of Greece... 

@shoekitty ,  she said it was Nob Hill, and I'm sure your educated guess about the price tag is spot on.

@CarolinaGirl88 ,  the things you pick up on are the ones that usually pique my interest too!

Her refined taste is what you would expect of one who had worked closely with the legendary Bunny Williams, and I'm smitten with a number of the things her keen eye sought out.  As usual, I'd have to "edit down" for my own visual comfort, but I can enjoy from afar the eclectic feast she lays out for her own enjoyment...

Loving that animal-print rug, the color on the kitchen cabinets and the furniture in the dining area...

Other than that, (again), too much "stuff" - I wonder who has the "pleasure" of dusting all of that?

@Oznell  Nob Hill is of such great Historic importance, not only in SF, the Bay Area, but to California itself. Oznell,for a history buff like you , (and lover of homes and architecture)  you might want to look up some surrounding historical land marks that dwell in NH district. I don't have the ability or patience to post them here.  Lol

i do have some facts to share. The Nob Hill district started to progress around around 1906, time of the Great Quake. It was so named for the word "nabob" with means the wealthy. In the early days the district was known for its railroad tycoons , they poured into the area.  Nob Hill also has one of the highest peaks for view of the Bay.  It is noted for Grace Cathedral, which will take one's breath away, and it's hotels as well.  On a personal note, my aunt married well and her husband and her resided at the Mark Hopkins hotel , circa  1926-30.  In those days many lived in hotels, like you see in the movies. Of course where you stayed depended on status and money. Nob Hill was highest uo from Howard or Market St, lol.  They lived there a,while, til stock market crash, and life got tougher. My Mom was way younger than this sister.  They came from a large , working  family near Santa Rosa.  My Russian grmds were Molokan religion, and came into the City to Russian Hill on Sundays  to the big church,(which is still there).  Then they visited my Aunt.  My mom, like Eloise remembers playing  in elevators and playing with doormen there. Also, she loved the indoor toilet, lol.  The lavish rooms, room service.  All the kids were in awe, and my aunt doted on them.  My mom took a deep love of SF, and during the war went to work at the Mark Hopkins and the St Francis. I have many photos of the dancing, night life of SF during the war.  She met met my dad in Uniform  there.

@shoekitty ,  very cool testimony, thank you for that!  Love your fascinating family history.  Your Mom's precious memories and your photos of the 40's nightlife-- what a treasure! 

I've long been interested in "old" San Francisco, mostly because of Jack London, and that whole set of writers bubbling up then.  Never knew "Nob Hill" came from "nabob",  neat!

My favorite San Fran movie is "Vertigo", I think-- didn't they have great shots of the area?

In that movie, Madeleine's elegant apartment in Nob Hill, Midge's bohemian apartment, Scottie's place, all the wonderful architecture, elegant restaurants, precariously steep streets...  they are an unforgettable backdrop to the story...

@Oznell   oh thanks for those photos, takes me back.  I haven't been to SF since I took my granddaughters shopping in 2007.  It is such a beautiful place, in most areas. Harder times now, but oh you get up on the hill and breath that fresh air, moistened with fog. The clink and clinging of the cable cars and the energy...it's amazing. The architecture is beautiful.  I love China Town there, now tht is a special area!  One of my favorite haunts back in the day nd present is City Lights Book Store, owed by Lawrence Ferlinghetti.  He died around Covid at 100, but they keep the place running. A place for poets, new writers, and hard copy readers!!!!!   When I was there last I could see so many still live in rooms and apts above businesses. It is so expensive to live there, but then again what isn't here in Bay Area.
