It's a little bittersweet to bid goodbye to summer, so here's a last look with this fresh Hamptons cottage by Timothy Whealon.

My favorite-- the entrance.  An airy entry made dramatic with the deep, denim-y blue.  The intriguing wall texture is due to it being a dyed raffia.

Really like the juxtaposition of entry's dark blue with the shell pink living room.

He uses a muted pink as a gentle neutral, reminiscent of the late, wonderful, old school English designer,  Georgina Fairholme.   I always like the classic combo of pink and chocolate brown, used here.

Fern-y botanicals--  love!

A transparent hexagonal dining table floats and almost disappears in a small room, allowing the antique sideboard and satiny dark floor to shine-

To me, the classic, diamond-patterned painted floor makes the kitchen.   My favorite kind of painted floor.

Oh, boy, the thickness of the towel bars makes me think that they are heated towel bars.  It's the little luxuries!  And before anyone comments, I do think the wooden chair is just that-- a chair!8266861e-6edd-4456-a4bb-6644c362859c.jpg

Timothy Whealon likes stripes, and crisp, outline trims--

He's traditional, but his extensive use of these crisp stripes and other graphics, and the simple beauty of the unadorned four poster, keeps him from veering too 'frilly', in my opinion.  Love the quirky little lamps.

Very private and relaxing-looking--

Snug shingled cottage.

Re: 1914 LONG ISLAND COTTAGE

[ Edited ]

@Oznell  I very much love the outside shingles ,  have always loved a shingled cottage look !   I like the 2 sitting rooms ,  well I guess one may be a living room,  those curved windows are fabulous!   The shades of colors chosen are so pretty .  Like you I love the enterance/foyer I normally dont like bold colors , but against the white it really does work !   That outside private area is so cozy and private ....I would love to sit there a read a good book or just relax with a nice glass of wine all by myself !

oh to add , yes I like the kitchen floor too!  Actually the whole kitchen .

@Oznell your comments are so enlightening; I always learn so much from reading your posts.

I am sad summer has slipped away and this brought a breath of fresh air. The pale pink is soothing and gives a feeling of tranquility.

I thought the transparent dining room table was a perfect touch. Loved the wall color and the dark floor finished it beautifully,

The white kitchen and all of the cabinet space has me smiling away.

The outdoor porch is so inviting and looks comfortable. I like the furniture, pillows and sunflowers are always the perfect accompaniment. I would be happy sitting quietly soaking in the ambiance of the lovely garden.

From the outside it resembles Lily Pond, the house Martha Stewart used to own.

Pretty colors inside, but everything looks so stiff & uncomfortable.

The exterior of the home is beautiful. My favorite rooms inside are the entryway...love that texture and color on the walls, the bedroom with the four poster bed and striped accessories and also the outdoor patio area. I'm not really too fond of much else in the house especially the pink walls.

I love the striking entryway.  It's certainly not what I would have expected in a cottage of this type.  I'd like to see more of the stark contrasts in the rest of the house but it kind of goes blah.

I'm not surprised that you're a fan of a painted floor like that, @Kitty Galore .   I just love effects like that, but, in real life, I rarely get to see such things, let alone executed so well...

Thanks, @DSD2 , kind of you to say.   Hey, I do like to hear someone else here is not entirely averse to pale pink walls-- they're never very popular in the Home forum, interestingly, but I love them as an alternative to the usual... and people look great in rooms with pink walls, they give a glow!

Very beautiful!  I love the entry way too!  The blue is perfect and I see texture indicating wallpaper.  I LOVE that door handle!

The pink reminds me of the inside of a seashell.

He has wonderful taste in accessories and color making each room come alive.  I especially loved what we could see of the kitchen.  I became a little tired of stripes, and don't care for the colors or art in the red and white bedroom.

My favorite space is the outdoor area. Really love it!
The entry way and kitchen also appeal to me.

I'm not a fan of the muted pink living and dining rooms, bathroom, or bedrooms.

Re: 1914 LONG ISLAND COTTAGE

Loved everythig until we got to the bedroom with the four poster.  The stripes were too much for my eyes.  Stripes on the floor or the bed would have been fine but not on both.  Otherwise, I thought it was a charming and beautiful cottage.
