1906 VINTAGE DINING ROOM RENO COMPLETED

snapshot.jpg

Paige from "Farmhouse Vernacular",  deep in the Kentucky countryside, returns in triumph with her dining room finally done!

The video encapsulates the whole process, from horrible wreck, to rebuild, to restoring moulding, painting, everything:

Paige likes these deep, velvety colors, but if you watch the video, the walls are not quite as dark as you see in the still I captured above.

Love her discussion of the art and all the furniture she's collected over time.  Her favorite antique style happens to coincide with mine, that of American Empire, (chunky, curving lines, rich mahogany tones).  I only have one, probably dodgy piece though, that I happily mix with midcentury, Eastlake, Art Deco, etc.   She's much more of a purist, and her dining room reflects that.  Even though it's not my style, I love her being true to her vision.  How luxurious it would be to dine by candlelight in that room!

(She keeps calling her walls "teal" but don't they look green?  She said she had to mix "Empress Teal" with "Bucolic Green" to get just the exact shade she wanted....)

Although, this isn't my style of furniture, the overall result is rich and classy.

She's fortunate to have a husband and a cat so "willing" to help her, not only to remodel and decorate, but also to make the video.

I appreciate her passion, but I find that room to be depressing and creepy at the same time.

(I suspect she wouldn't think much of my industrial passion either.  Woman LOL)

She does have a gift for making an interesting video.  I watched her redo an entire room that I knew I wouldn't like after about two minutes into the video.

Thanks for posting!

Beautiful house!

I didn't watch the entire video, but I see nothing 'dining room' about it, and I hate the color of the walls. Too dark for my tastes.

It's beautiful, just not a color for me, and of course they can make the room whatever they want, but I don't see a lot of dining going on in there.

Cute hubby and cat! Lovely home. Great work!

Wonderful video!  Thanks for sharing. Love the room which is surprising given the fact I don't especially like teal. But it works in that room.

Man plans. God laughs.

Great job.  Having taught Inter Design and written curriculum for 10 years in that area, the "parlor" would never mhad a view of the kitchen and was always in the front of the house.

The room they most likely redecorated was the dining room.

Elegant and formal, the design and style I love!  The furniture is exquisite as is the entire room.  It is very pleasing to my eye and so appealing in all ways.  Great job!!!!!!!

I found her to be an amazingly animated, interesting and colorful "character."  She knows what she wants and she seems to be achieving her goals.

If you watched the entire youtube, she did demonstrate with the help of her husband how she turned the "parlor" into a dining room, which she explained she only needed on a limited basis during the year...just moving the couch to a side wall and trading it in for a long drop leaf table which was originally along that wall, with six dining chairs!

I wouldn't mind knowing her on a personal basis, but I doubt I could keep up with her.

ETA:  I have a green dining room, so we might be sisters. lol

She did such a beautiful job. Love the teal walls and pops of shades of pinks and red. My favorite combo. Although this isn't my personal style, I can see the love, work and excitement she put into it. She really thought this through because set up as a dining room, it does work.

Re: 1906 VINTAGE DINING ROOM RENO COMPLETED

I agree that the flexible "parlor/dining room" arrangement works for them.  That long table they pull out is a "wake" table, that had a whole other video on it!

The other, probably "real" parlor, they turned into their first floor master bedroom--  because with its ceilings, it could accommodate their four poster, and because they are thinking ahead to "aging in place" in the house, and one day might want everything on the first floor....
