I got this at the Container Store.  As much as you can love a garbage can, I love this one.  You can keep the lip open if you need to, the bag stays hidden inside, and the lid closes quietly.  This uses regular kitchen garbage bags too.

I was looking at the Simple Human ones, but I didn't want to fool around with batteries.

@Bri369 - thanks for posting this one.  I like that you can use regular bags and that the lid can stay open. We don’t often shut our lid. And I love The Container Store!

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

@gidgetgh , it's very nice.  I like that it doesn't look too shiny or cheap.

There is a liner inside the can that you can take out and wash if you need to.

Wait for a coupon!

@Warrior2022   This is $106 on Amazon Prime.  Quite a bit less than $141.99 and $17.97 shipping on QVC.  I don't know if you're serious about it, but I think it looks great.

It skeeves me out seeing a garbage can sitting out in plain sight in a kitchen. So very unsanitary looking. I grew up with a big garbage can sitting out in the open in the kitchen. I swore then, when I grew up and had my own kitchen I would NEVER do that. Yuck!

I have a relative who got one from Bed, Bath & Beyond.  The original price was $100.00.  I have no idea what she paid for it but even with a 20% coupon it's still $80.00 plus tax.

Funny thing is, I love that stupid thing.  LOL  It is stainless steel with a lid and it has the pedal to open it. But then it does a slow close, it doesn't just slam down.  It is also fingerprint proof and with her 2 small kids, that makes a difference.

To each his/her own with spending money.

I have had a Simple Human trash can in my kitchen for 5-6 years now. IIRC, I paid $80 some for it at the time. I love it. It looks nice, stainless steel, step pedal to open, stores the bags inside, and hold a week's worth of trash. What with recycling I am down to one bag of trash per week, except times that I host a gathering of course. Mine uses the size M bags, but with only 1 bag per week, I don't have to buy very often.

I love household things that work without electricity or batteries.  It seems there are fewer and fewer, but we still have trash cans, doors, drawers, and toilets, to name a few.
