My back splashes were painted the same color as my kitchen walls-the color of coffee with lotsof cream. With beige counter-tops it was very boring and dark due to very little natural light.

I had bright white paint around & polyurethane, so I did not have to buy those.

I bought a small metallic copper acrylic paint & new switch plates.

Two coats of white paint prepared the wall. The copper paint went on in a very thin layer using a wet sponge. So dilute, it is hard to tell what color it it. It just knocked the edge off the white. It is still bright, but you know it isn't white. Finished it off with a coat of poly. Added new switch plates & it is done!

It isn't where I utimately want to go. But $11 versus $1,500 for new countertops & backsplashes works for me in this uncertain economy. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}
