With today marking the beginning of Advent,  "Most Lovely Things" blogger made a modern Advent centerpiece, or stand-in for the traditional wreath, if you will, that harmonizes with her modern home.

How I Created My Advent Centerpiece

1. I gathered my supplies: a copper preserving pan, large pillar candles, potting soil, foraged moss, pine cones, and twigs.
2. I filled the large pan with potting soil.
3. Added the large pillar candles, ensuring they were the same height. You could also use white taper candles, but I love the size of the pillars with the large copper pot.
4.  I nestled in moss around the candles. I added a few pine cones and twigs and placed them on our living room round table, where we will light candles each week of Advent leading up to Christmas Day.

Such a nice way to observe.  And the different elements are easy to put together.  I'm always in awe of all the ingenious ways that that can be done!   And so many different bowls could lend themselves to the project.   I agree with her, that in a smaller pot, taper candles or other smaller candles would work well.

Her kitchen looks ready for the season, too.

The tapers in the kitchen look unstable, & I would never light those.

I think I've seen prettier centerpieces.

The natural, organic materials, simply put together, were what drew me in too, @mnmom .   

It was her ingenuity in departing from the traditional advent wreath "format" that gave me a few other ideas too.

I realized I have a pair of Heisey glass Art Deco "double" candlesticks I'd like to set up and use.  

Now, if I can just hunt up some plain tapers...   At church, they use purple, I think rose, and white.  I must look up the meaning of each...

That picture of those Heisey glass candlesticks I posted, I found online, but they are identical to mine.   Sometimes it's a pain not to be able to post my own pictures!

That is a lovely center piece!!!  There are so many ways to decorate without spending a lot of money and time.  I love your art deco candlesticks, Oznell and yes, you should definitely display them, beautiful!!!!
