Re: Starry Nights Hurricanes

OMG! I haven't been much on here since April.

I see that the more some things change the more they stay the same.

This is easy to settle.

If someone has lots of money they want to spend on something.....go for it.

If someone is looking for a bargain, so some on line comparison and decide if it's workth it.

If someone doesn't want to let their fingers do the work and check out prices, I guess they feel they're getting the best bargain.

It's still nice to have someone care enough to come on here and let other's know what she knows.

It's all in how one addresses the problem.  I think it's what emoji's are good for since no one is face to face.

I've had brain trama but even with that I could figure this one out.

Smile, and have a great day ladies.

I purchased items on ebay that sold out on QVC, the sellers got the money they wanted & I got the items I wanted...good for them, good for me.

Re: Starry Nights Hurricanes

Thanks y'all for a laugh before I go to bed!  The logic of the argument or the lack of logic is really pretty funny. Almost every day there are posts telling other posters they are making bad decisions when they shop QVC.  Why is this one warning so outrageous?

Night all.

Re: Starry Nights Hurricanes

I know this is a crazy bidding war. I understand @50Mickey being shocked. However, it's Economics 101. Supply and demand. I've been both a seller and buyer on Ebay since 2003. I have seen this happen where items are out of stock in the stores and Ebay is the only place you can find your items your searching for.  These bidders may very well already know the original cost, most likely they even saw them on QVC. This isn't unique.

I have a quick story: I collect red Henn pottery. Gerald Henn Workshops went out of business years ago and these items are hard to find. I put several items on my Watch List in hopes the price would eventually go down. I felt, for me, the prices that were being asked were ridiculous. All of a sudden everything was selling. I couldn't believe these crazy people were buying these at the high prices. Well, my birthday was shortly after. Guess what I received? My husband bought all the pieces he thought I needed. It didn't hit me right away. After a couple days I said, "You didn't buy these from Ebay did you?". What do you think his answer was? Smiley LOL

Re: Starry Nights Hurricanes

This situation is nothing new at all, remember Beanie Babies, even further back Cabbage Patch Kids?  Every Christmas parents will pay outrageous prices for certain toys.

The information on the auction was shared so now others may be tempted and that's their business too.

If I as a consumer choose to enter into a transaction for an item it shouldn't be anyone's business but ours.

I missed out on the black (got the pumpkin) so maybe I'll check out Ebay

I don't think the OP was trying to dictate what others choose to do.  I think she was just trying to be helpful and informative.

See @cjm61 - your story about your red Henn pottery makes sense. I would buy something from you!

I think I've only used eBay once or twice, once to buy a model of the Titanic that broke in half for DS to play with in the bathtub when he was little. But I've never bid. I just paid a price. I should try bidding sometime!

But here's my story. I was in Target for one of their first "special designer" launches. After waiting in line I headed to get a dress I wanted to get DD for a middle school dance. Another woman I was talking to in line wanted it for her daughter too. Some other shoppers circled the display with shopping carts and started throwing all of the dresses in them. I couldn't reach in, and of course both of us missed out.

There was a salesperson standing there. Of course, not being shy at all, I asked her didn't they limit the amount one customer could buy. SHE is the one who told me the dresses would probably be listed on eBay the same day, and there was nothing they could do. Target didn't have a limit. (IDK if they do now.)

IMO, THAT'S not right. I saw it happen after that too, but I gave up on Target's special releases after that! And personally I feel bad for people who can't buy one thing they want because someone has raised the price and put it on eBay!  Smiley Mad
