REALLY TCM????? WHERE ARE YOU CLASSIC HOLIDAY MOVIES!!!

[ Edited ]

Flipping through the Cable Guide hoping to see some of the CLASSIC Holiday Movies on TCM........let's see there's THE BIG CIRCUS and nothing says CHRISTMAS like One Million BC  Smiley

Image result for one million bc

What's up with TCM....it appears they've boycotted Christmas.....I know Hallmark & Up have Christmas themed movies, but I love the OLD ones....Anyone else notice this or feel this way?

Re: REALLY TCM????? WHERE ARE YOU CLASSIC HOLIDAY MOVIES!!!

They did a poor job with Halloween this year, too.  Usually they show nonstop, classic horrors and thrillers throughout the whole month of October.  This year they showed a lineup every Friday night that month (which was odd, because Halloween was a Saturday), and then they showed the same feature on Halloween that they showed last year and other uninspired choices.  I've noticed that I don't watch as much TCM as I used to.  Ever since Robert Osborne returned from his leave of absence to deal with an illness, the programming is not the same.  I think he doesn't have as much control in the scheduling anymore.  I used to flip through the entire month's worth of programming at the beginning of each month, and set my DVR for so many films.  Now I don't bother anymore.

There haven't been that many Christmas movies, I just realized that.  I don't watch them but you just pointed that out.

Other than the Hallmark channel ones,

THANK YOU!!!!  I had been checking as well, and wondered what the heck happened/they were thinking!

I thought that maybe in the last couple of weeks before Christmas at least they would get in several holiday movies per day, but what are they waiting for?

And while I'm being indignant, I'll mention that I'm up to my eyeballs in Christmas romance.

What happened to the good old fashioned Christmas movies that held more than romance (think Prancer)? Hallmark really needs to revisit what they are doing with these (as well as other networks that have gone over to that side), and start mixing in some that are more about the season and less about the romance.

I'm just bummed that I've searched and can't find Holiday Inn unless I pay $2.99 through my cable system...guess I'll have to spring for the $2.99, LOL.

I also wonder whatever happened to the notion of Christmas "specials". There might be one or two, but it used to be you could count on a a slew of variety specials and no I am NOT talking about the bulk of the animated shows shown year after year... I didn't even like most of those when I was a kid.

@stevieb  Oh there have been a few Christmas Specials that unfortunately weren't that "special" ----JMHO!!!

The CMA Country Christmas with Jennifer Nettles

The Christmas In Rockefeller Center with Sting, James Taylor, Mary J. Blige, Andrea Bocelli, Andy Grammer, Carley Rae Jepsen, Pentatonix, Rockettes

Michael Buble Christmas Special--Celine Deion, Tori Kelly----

As much as I like Michael Buble--- ..... first mistake filmed in Gollywood (not exactly Christmas territory JMHO)......and the premiss of him on a tour bus with cameos by Jay Leno and William Shatner and that model was pretty lame....the best part was when he sang audience requests.....I would have preferred an entire show doing that....

The rest didn't really hold my interest.....I kept flipping back and forth to other channels....I guess the regular networks just don't bring in the ratings with these specials ..... There seems to be no real chemistry between the hosts and guests ..it seems more like an awards show with each guest doing their thing....
