Prior TSV Disappointment

[ Edited ]

I ordered 4 sets of these for staff gifts.  I "test drove" the battery life of 2 to see the battery life longevity.  I activated the votives on 7/21/17 on timer mode & as I type, one of the votives is flickering on & off, we all know what that means.  My next test will be utilizing the remote on a new votive to see if that makes a difference.  I love everything about the gift-ability of these beautifully packaged ornaments, however would I be embarrassed about the potential short term battery life?

Re: Prior TSV Disappointment

I was afraid of that, and didn't order for that reason.

Won't it be great if they can get the technology to the point where those button batteries will be enough to power a small tea light like this, for maybe 60 days on the timer function?

Hopefully it will happen someday!

And I agree, the gift won't be used if the short battery life (and cost) is excessive. People will use them for a short time, they they will be in the closet or donated. Not what we hope for gifts we give.

Sorry they aren't going to work for your plans.

I got my set around that date.  They seem to still be perky.  I do like them, the blown glass is nice.  I'm worried if they are too delicate for me.  I'm scared I'm going to drop one.  I'll have to take a good look at them this weekend.  As for gifts, I guess I'd send them back.

Yes, same experience here - one yesterday and the other today. I did not realize the battery problem. Just awful!!!!!

I am now going to try the remote option.  I would be happy if these would give at least 30 days of optimum use.  To be continued...!

I wonder if it ever occurred to them in QVC QC to do @BornToShop 's lab experiment?   She ought to be on staff.

I was tempted to buy, they are so cute and versatile but I bought the battery operated fairy lights last year and they don't even last a month.

No more of that for me.   The batteries don't last all season, like they say in the presentation.

Don't worry.  7/21 to 8/8 is...let's call it... 17 days (a little over 2 weeks).  They come with 2 extra batteries per ornament, so,that brings us to a little over 6 weeks.  Long enough for the season, yes?  As for having to change the batteries 2 times during the holidays...when something is lovely, do you ever mind giving it a little attention? (I don't.)

I replace tea lights every day of the holidays. (Sometimes more.)  I replace votive lights every three days. (Sometimes two.)  I don't begrudge it because I love the light they give.  Would this be any different?

BTW you are a very thoughtful giver.

@itsdee  The problem with changing the batteries is that once on the tree at different levels, it is impossible to change them around the top portion without getting on a ladder and bothering the ornaments on the lower portion.

Re: Prior TSV Disappointment

I'm giving a few to my children. They know about the battery problem and are prepared to deal with it. They have already said they don't want too many, so they don't have too many batteries to change out. I always give extra, extra batteries with flamless candles anyway. These votives are just so beautiful, the work is worth it, I think.
