Re: One tree done and on to the next.

That's beautiful- GREAT job!

I discovered that lime-ish color of green for Christmas decorating a few years ago. It makes an excellent pop of color.

Re: One tree done and on to the next.

@kitcat51  Yes, I saw it before I bought it online, but I think it might be sold out.  Check anyway since they may get more stock in.  Also, the ones at Walmart aren't bad either, just go online and search flocked trees.  I actually bought a 4' one there and it was just $25 for my kitchen area.

Of course you can spend a lot of money on a tree $500+, but if your budget doesn't allow that much, I thought the ones at Michaels and Walmart were a really good deal for flocked trees.  This is a picture of the one in Michaels that I took when trying to figure out what I wanted.

@lucymo, you outdid yourself with this tree!!  I keep showing it to DH to try to get him converted to the artificial trees instead of insisting on a real tree every year.  He even said your tree is well done!  Keeping my fingers crossed...!  Thanks for sharing your stunning work!

@BornToShop  Thank you.  I know your DH knows how to decorate as I remember the red truck with a gator head in back.  Smiley Happy

This tree is flocked and very easy to decorate.  Great one if you like to do a smaller tree.  It's 6 ft tall.

Do post back and let us know if DH relents or sticks to his tradition. I love the smell of real trees but don't like to wait until later to put them up.

Re: One tree done and on to the next.

@lucymo  Well, here is another example of how slow I can be, lol.  Regarding faceted teardrop jewel picks by Valerie, I was just about to pack them and return as I could not figure them out.  I would get a pick in my hand, pull each branch way out, then flip the tear drops so the glass faced outward, but they never looked good.  In addition, the gold stems were a problem for me.

I finally figured them out today.  I pulled out a large red hobnail type mercury glass jar,  removed the lid and decided to use it for a vase on the dining room table.  I put one of the picks in, looked okay.  I took another pick and the branches were a bit stuck so they were close but not too close, and viola, the pick looked great, so now I am not spreading the branches way out, and the gold stems are fine in the dining room as the colors are red, green, and gold, mostly the latter two colors.  Wheeew, lol, another problem solved, good thing as I ordered so many, couldn't figure out why I would do that, though I have always said that when I am driven to buy something, sooner or later I will have a use for it.  I am going to add some red sprigs, I think, unless once the vase is full I decide it looks great with just the jewel picks.

What have you done with yours?

@mousiegirl  Funny girl, lol.  I haven't done anything with my faceted teardrop picks.  I only got one set which is always a bad idea for me. I should always get at least two sets and maybe three or more.  They are too thin to spread out very much, IMO, as they just seem to do nothing.  I'll most likely mix them with other picks or stems in a large vase or hurricane which is what you are doing.

That red Hobnail jar sound very pretty.  Are you using the picks alone or with some other stems?  I'm not progressing very well in the decorating job.  I have so much stuff out to choose from.  I think I'll pack it up and be a greenery-candle person.lol  I did get the nativity done on the entry table today but that's it.  I'm leaving the DR in Fall decor until after Thursday unless I have a cham

nge of plans before then.

Speaking of picks, I got some of the snowflake picks and they are really nice and full.  I'm going to use them in a jar arrangement with some long tree branches that I painted earlier this fall along with some other stems.

@lucymo  The picks in the jar sparkle beautifully due to the light from the crystal chandelier, you can imagine.  Now that the jar is full of the picks, the red jar with the mini lights inside glowing through the mercury glass and then the faceted picks, really beautiful, if I do say so myself, lol, so I am going to leave it as it is as the large red jar adds the color.

I bought the jar two years ago at Home Goods, along with quite a few red mercury glass items, then wondered what I was going to do with the huge jar, well, it took me two years, but I finally found a use, lol.

I almost bought the snowflake picks, but I have so many of Valerie's white sparkly picks from a year or two ago, so decided not to.

@Spurt  We think alike, I love those fall plates and hate to take them out but I will after Thanksgiving.  I have winter plates for Mo in December. I might use the Better Homes & Gardens critter plates in the rack.

We were in San Antonio one winter but it wasn't really cold.  However, we went to Wichita Falls for Christmas one year and it was nice when we went to bed but the next morning a blue northern had arrived and it was freezing.
