Re: Martha - What the Heck?

[ Edited ]

As if skulls were not tasteless enough as "decoration." Now, snakes..... What next? Surgically removed body parts? The fun of Halloween has been replaced by macabre objects masquerading as holiday decor.

Snakes are a big deal in jewelry styles now.  I have two pair of snake earrings.  One you would not know is a snake from looking at it......it has a pearl at the end of it.  The other pair is a gaudy multicolored Betsy Johnson snake earrings.

The green roses in the wreath really is not my style. Too unnatural.

I've watched too much Harry Potter.

That increased my dread of snakes by about 1000%.

No Nagini Horcrux for me.

@SactoSue   I have never seen one movie, and after reading your post I googled, and now know I will never watch any.

Not everyone is a fan of cutesy dancing broomsticks, handkerchief ghost, talking pumpkins, and hologram black cats for Halloween decorations all wrapped in purple and orange fairy lights.

Not everyone likes Day of The Dead decorations of skulls and skeletons.

I think there's room, and a market for a variety.

@Etoile308 I agree.  I have a few friends that love the very scary day of the dead decorations. The scarier the better.  Me not so much.

No way.  I don't like coming up on one outside.  Don't want to see it in my home!

So many ignorant comments here. Skulls and serpents have been part of Halloween iconography for centuries, rooted in folklore and the aesthetics of fear. It's Halloween. Yeah it's supposed to be fun, but based on some of the comments here, many of you don't really seem fun at all. The idea that Martha's decor is inappropriate is a modern invention, born of commercial dilution and suburban discomfort. If you want plush pumpkins and glitter bats, they’re available from the lady who makes copies of copies of copies of all the cheap, tasteless junk she sells, year after year.
