I  thought I would be able to use my 20 year tree one more year but it fell apart.  I am looking at H305391 7.5 Dunhill Fir.   In the description it has PVC tips.  Does this mean the tips are plastic?  I looked at some trees locally and I don’t want plastic tips.  I have asked the question on the item but that may take awhile.  Thanks for any help.

Re: I need help on a new tree.

Why don't you buy a tree locally (where there are no surprises and no shipping and probably at a better price)?

PVC stands for Poly Vinyl Chloride. Yes, the short answer is it is plastic. I don't know what your other choices of materials are for synthetic trees, but the one you are considering does have plastic "tips".

I did a search of six stores and found the one that looked most natural was at Costco. And they deliver in a timely fashion.

Re: I need help on a new tree.

Good luck with that. I'd had my tree for over 30 years. That last 4 years I was stringing lights on it where they were burning out, only because I  couldn't find a tree I liked.

I finally  bought the Bethlehem 9ft. flocked tree the Q offered last year. I'm not in love with this tree, it looks to purfict. I  suppose over time it will be ok. The thought of  spending hours stringing lights was more than I want to deal with anymore.

Re: I need help on a new tree.

Thanks to everyone who helped me make up my mind about a new tree.  I don't understand why they put the PVC tips on most of the trees I looked at.  I guess I am just old fashioned but I don't want a tree with PVC tips.  I finally found a tree that was exactly what I was wanting.  I won't share with you what the tree cost me.  I am ashamed to have spent that much money for a Christmas tree when the money could have gone to help soneone less fortunate. I am also ashamed about how sad I was losing my old tree.  There were so many memories connected to that tree and I almost felt like I was losing that part of my life again.  I hope everyone has a wonderful Merry Christmas and a Happy healthy new year.  Thanks again.

Valerie's slim glistening tree is beautiful, but with shipping and time involved I'd check local. Michaels had theirs at 50% off, not bad!

@gjc57   I don't believe you should feel ashamed about feeling sad about having to replace your well loved tree nor for whatever amount you spent to replace it with a new Christmas tree that had the features you want.

The new tree will bring you joy and life undoubtably will present you with many opportunities to be a gracious giver, some of them involving giving money, but in other ways as well.  Not all kindness is offered to others through money.

Letting another unburden herself of some worry or sadness by listening, patiently, giving a compliment to a person often overlooked, sharing your strength through other thoughtful acts will arise in your everyday travels.  Look for them and act accordingly.

I wish you many years of enjoying your tree which will be an inspiration for you to carry the Christmas ideal of caring and sharing all through the year.

@gjc57 We had a very very hard year a few years ago and spent I won't share either how much money on a 12 foot tree.  The comfort and pure joy of that tree has repaid many times over for us.

Maybe invite some friends over for snacks and to help decorate it.  It might just help make beautiful new memories to adorn your tree.

Maybe get some ornaments you no longer want, put them on the tree, and invite someone over for snacks and give them an ornament from the tree-might be a needed memory for them.

Or just sit and enjoy it and savor the season!

Re: I need help on a new tree.

@gjc57 - I have the Downswept Douglas Fir from National Tree Company, which is fairly similar to the one you're referencing, and it is very high in quality and quite realistic. The approach NTC uses for its trees is to have the outer branches/needles be formed from specially molded PVC (called a "Feel Real" material that is based on templates of actual trees) and some of the inner branches/needles formed from a more thick fabric or paper material (like what you find on many craft store wreaths and table trees) that does a nice job of filling in the space in the center of the tree. It's a little hard to describe the needles, but they are soft compared to those of cheaper trees, and many guests have had to get really close to the tree to confirm that it isn't real. You can adjust the pieces quite a bit to get just the look you want. I also love my NTC tree because it has just the right amount of lights—not so many that it's garish and not so few that I feel like I need more.

That's my novel for the night. I'm happy to answer questions if you decide you're still interested in a tree from NTC. Good luck with your tree shopping!  Smiley Happy
