@Mominohio Thank you so much. Lights not lasting is precisely the reason I go for inexpensive pre-lit trees. Last year was the second year for the tree I have now and if it only lasts a couple more years, no harm, no foul.

Threw out the old tired one in January and I've been searching and researching. Good grief Balsam Hill company gets good reviews but close to $1000. Don't see good options on the Q's CIJ. Appreciate any suggestions.
I bought 2 pre-lit trees last October from Balsam Hill. They were heavily discounted from the list price.

@lulu2 I will be looking there as I finally want a faux tree for the living room, never thought I would, but the hassle to get an eight foot tree upstairs every year, and the fact that I could begin decorating earlier than if I had to buy a real tree, AND the cost of trees now is crazy, has changed my mind.

I miss having a real tree....but just a little bit. Once you make the change, I think you might just wonder what took so long to do it.
So much less mess, no limits on when to set up or take down, and honestly, once decorated, just as beautiful as real. Only thing I miss is the great smell (no candle gets it right), and the great memories of going out and choosing or cutting the trees from younger days. And those aren't coming back so I might as well just move on!LOL

@Mominohio Going out looking for a tree was fun way back when, but now it is work, and pretty quick, then watching and "listening" to DH's difficulties getting it upstairs. Last Christmas when I told him I would be buying another faux tree but for the living room, of course he said he likes real, he and I agree on nothing, lol, so I will just get it, but only if the Balsam Hills tree, or wherever I find one, comes in pieces like the trees here.
I want one that is much fuller than the trees offered here, though I do love the two I have that I bought here.
You are right about candles not smelling authentic when it comes to trees, at least in my experience.

To get the smell I cut fresh pieces and tuck in to some of my decor, mantle garlands, centerpieces, tree etc. It is easy to change them if they get tired. I have actually had people go up to my artificial tree and comment about how good it smells. LOL.

@birdQ13 We currently have a 9 ft tree that we purchased from Lowe's several years ( at least 8) that is just lovely. It has lasted well and still looks real when we get it up. It is not a pre lit tree, and my husband and I, being in our 70's just can't deal with it again this year. Neither of us are able to climb up and down a ladder dressing the tree.
My daughter bought a beautiful, realistic 7 ft tree from Lowe's last Christmas. It is covered with the pure white lights that aren't yellow looking.
I'm thinking we will go back to Lowe's and purchase a more managable tree for us.

Searched and searched for my tree I found the best trees at best prices at Home Depot....I got a 7 1/2 ft Martha Stewart with all the bells and whistles (has the in pole lighting and you can switch from white to colored lights too, very full, very nicely made .......under $200 too...They usually put them out in late October around here......
Michaels had some decent looking ones too and they were on sale
