I am planning a birthday party for my mom's birthday on Easter. She will be 88. This is the first time that she remembers her birthday being on Easter. So I want it to be special for both Easter and her birthday. Do you have any suggestions for decorations, food, games, etc? Any suggestions big or small will be helpful. Thank you!!!

@Thundar Just want to say how thoughtful and what a loving daughter.  Without knowing her, it would be difficult for me to recommend.  What are her favorite foods, music, colors, games, books/maybe recorded ....I would start there. There will probably be several board members chiming in with creative ideas.  I'm sure she will appreciate and enjoy the party!

What a fun idea.  How about an Easter egg hunt- 88 eggs!

Sounds so wonderful.  Here are a few suggestions, as I have a similar party coming up and these are some things I'm doing, subject to change.

  • Pastel color theme (plates, napkins, etc)
  • pastel colored flower centerpiece (I might be getting paper flowers instead of real, undecided right now but there are lovely paper flowers on Etsy by different sellers)
  • a few bunny items around--maybe a chocolate bunny at each place as a place card.
  • must have appetizer Deviled Eggs
  • Spring- ish themed buffet menu, salad, asparagus, new potatoes, probably  Turkey ( we don't eat much red meat here ), quiche, a vegetarian pasta salad.  That's what I'm thinking so far.
  • Desserts: fruit salad, chocolate mousse and a cheesecake (I'm thinking I'll be making a strawberry or mixed berry one).
  • I'm going to have a favor just because we have kids and adults, so it will be a small jar of pastel jelly beans with a gingham ribbon and a thanks for coming tag.

Whatever you decide on, best of luck and I'm sure your Mom will be thrilled.

It would help to know the age range of those invited and how many you're planning for. Also, will this be inside, at a park, or?

Give her some bunny ears to wear?

Games - pin the tail on the bunny, bunny pinata, do the bunny hop

Food - something with carrots (ie steamed w/ dill or veggie tray)

Depending on her sense of humor - 'such a young chick' written on cake

Was curious about the date so checked google:

Easter Sunday fell on April 9 in the years 1939, 1944 and 1950

I just looked up "88th Birthday Party Easter"  and it popped up the cutest vignette. You dont have to take up all these ideas ( im not a fan of the carrot garland) but i adore the muted old fashioned colors and font of the saying...00b0268233a3ef6c792a4e3061adb0af--themed-birthday-parties-birthday-fun.jpg

I liked this as a favor...il_fullxfull.4561695665_a0iq.jpg

I'm sure she will be thrilled with whatever you decide on. Making it to 88 nowadays is a wonderful thing.
